new 86' i need help quick
i am a very happy fb 12a type person, but i think i have an amazing offer in front of me, i can buy a 86' model rx7 that looks nice(for a 15+yr old car)inside and out.BUT, to start the car you must hold the accelerator to the floor and roll the motor over repeatedly. (it takes a while) Have you ever flooded a car and you hold the acc. to the floor and as it begins to start you just keep the starter turning and is cranks over faster and faster and faster until finally its ok to disengage the starter and the car will run on its own. THATS WHAT IT IS LIKE!
and, there is no power at all....it revs up fine, with the clutch pushed or the car in neutral, but when you take off in 1st you need to use an excessive amount of throttle. i drove about a half mile and the whole time i was on the floor because it woulnt go. its not sputtering or jumping, just a huge lack of power.
what could cause this type of problem? how much, how long to fix? how much is car worth?
the person who owns it said he though it was a lack of compression, but he bought the car not running and once he got it toi start this was the condition. he whole heartedly admits to knowing next to nothing about rotaries!
the guy is moving from houston to florida friday i need to make a decision
PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

actually, I may have made that assumption to soon. I mostly based that on seeing he said loss of compression.
loss of compression on one of the rotors = blown apex seal. the one rotor that still has compression is working normal still, that's why it will rev and run but have no power. you are only running on one rotor instead of two.
as for starting poorly, have you put a new battery in the car. the gradual increase in speed of the starter sounds like a bad cell in the battery.
how much is he asking for the car? it may still be a good deal.

Only a couple years? That seems pretty short.

It may last 10 miles, it may last 100k miles. It's purely luck-of-the-draw with these things.
