Who do you trust to fix your car?

Who would you trust to fix your car? Usually you can do it yourself, but lets say you dont have time and the tools to do it? Who do you look to? The dealer or other independant companies?

If the independant companies werent so expensive, I would probably go to them. But the dealer is good enough for me right now, its the dealer or myself when i repair my car.

My car would sit for years, before I would take it to anyone else.

I am the only one I trust to work on it.

*edit=
And the dealer is worse than brain dead, they don't have a single person that has a clue. I would not be surprised if they said you need to replace the motor just because it has a vacuum leak

Myself, or my father only.

The only part that did not work on my car after the entire rebuild and all the work I did .. was the only part I sent away to have work done on and did not do myself.

damn you acidshock I was gonna say that exact same thing.

but seriously never let anyone work on your car that yuou know very little about, if your not mechanically inclined talk to people and find out who has had good/bad experiences from the certain mechanic

Iv the only person to ever work on my car since iv owned it, except for once....... I took it to the mazda dealership so they could fix my auto seatbelts for free, they thought i was gone (i was waiting in the waiting room) and i hear a loud *** rx7 (you know you can tell what an rx7 sounds like, at least your own) anyway, it pulled out of the dealership and redlined/shot fire through 2nd gear. long story short, they put 2.7 miles on my car, some people at the dealership are fired, and the genral manager was put on probabtion by the good old mazda corperation of america. I asked the assistant manager where my car was, he said that wasnt my car and it was in the shop.... (obviesly lieing thinking i wouldent do anything about it) i said ok, picked up my cell called a rep for mazda (someone really important) and told them what happened, he said thanks ill fix it. i sat there and staired at the manager untill his phone rang, he answered it, got yelled at, and no i get to park my car in the showroom when i go there.. and they call me sir. its kinda nice..... but no ones gunna work on my car anymore.

stuff like the transmission I will take to a tranny shop that my family has had work on 6 of our old cars over the years. Anything related to the engine or electronics I won't trust anyone to do other than myself. Unless its a rebuild, then I would send it to Rotary Ressurection because he has such an unbelievable reputation here.

Myself and the crew @ Z-1 Performance as well as J&R Performance (Joe KNOWS his rotaries and he'll be doing my TII swap real soon, just a couple more checks hehe). Admitedly I am intimidated by tuning a turbo rotary correctly...so he will be handling the install and tuning and I will learn from him when it's finished lil plug for Joe @ www.smokinjoeracing.net

Local friends whom I can watch/assist as they're doing something to my car. Wouldn't ever take a rotary to a generic shop.

medford car care i dont want to, but i cant do it, nor do i have the tools, time or place to work on it, so what the hell. my parents have been taking their cars to him for years and trust him. i wouldnt take it to him for anything more than generic work that is no different from a regular car though.

OMG! That's hilarious!
and I agree with most ppl on here. either I fix it myself, or I have a friend help me. I don't think I'd ever go to a mazda dealer or some mechanic

I don't really trust myself because I'm new to rotaries... I'll need some time to be able to do so. I'll have to trust rx7 store for now. They're taking care of idling issues on my car as I speak. It's taking longer than it should but I brought my car in without letting them know in advance so that's understandable. I guess I can trust them since they have a good reputation from what I hear

The only person i trust is myself.
You have to understand that these cars are extremly rare and finding someone who knows what there doing is really hard to find.
Ive heard countless of horror stories of ppl taking there cars to mechanics and having more problems when they got it back.

The only people that I have taken the car to is the tire shop that put on my RE 950's because I don't have balancing and alignment tools. lol
