Need under-car pics of N/A's

Here is my problem, on the bottom of my tranny case while under the car, I have a big hole right in the middle. It is directly behind the oil pan, and to the left of the exhaust pipe, and to below and to the right of the starter. When shining a flashlight into the hole, I can basically see a gear, the gear is very dry and not lubricated. This hole, btw, is in perfect diameter, and, in the Haynes manual, it shows it plugged up with some kind of rubber circle stopper thing. If I stick my finger into the hole and feel around the inside, I can basically feel a little bit of oil, probably tranny oil, and of course, the huge *** gear. My question is, is this hole supposed to be plugged up, and why is there some kind of oil slowly leaking out of it. If anyone has good pics of under their cars, I can give a better example and see if you all are having the same problem as me... this is really confusing me. Why wouldthere be a big hole in the open under my car where rocks and crap can get underneath and into it. /shrug I'll take pics tomorrow, my camera isnt charged atm =\

that big *** gear is the flywheel... every car has a opening there except it is supposed to be covered... im not exactly sure of the purpose of the hole but i assume it is for some kind of inspection purposes.. as in checking to see if the flywheel is worn out or something else with the tranny instead of pulling the trans off.... you do need to cover it up somehow until you can find the proper grommet that goes into it because dust and dirt will get in there and that is never good

Ahhh, makes sense. I've looked on Mazdatrix but I cannot fint the plug for it. But is there any reason why small amounts of oil would be coming from this hole?

btw buy some of that a/c tape if you want... it sticks to anything GOOD and its cheap... just never use it on electical things because it conducts current... you can maybe use this to temp fix it and prevent dust from getting in there until you get a grommet

If it's thin like engine oil, it's coming from your engine's rear seal...

If it's thick like tranny fluid (and doesn't smell like regular oil), it's coming from your tranny front seal, or leaking past the gasket on the tranny front cover, inside the bellhousing...

The hole is the inspection hole to see the clutch. There is a rubber "plug" that pushes into it. It is Mazda part number N204-16-145 if your car is a series 4... I assume that a series 5 is the same but I am not looking that one up too.

I fucked up my rubber flywheel cover plug, and to fix it just cut off the top of a spray paint can cover (the plastic piece) and hot glued it on. It's been there for awhile now, so whatever works... works. Grommets are hard to find though. I tried a couple, but the flywheel is pretty close to the opening, and shredded the first one up.
