carb conversion?

i'm sick and tired of leaking injectors and a maf that doesn't read right int. i'm missing an 02 because of my cat. back and i am seriously thinking of converting my 6port 1990 convertible to carb. (holley from racing beat). i heard it was reliable and easy (with the auto choke and all). any thoughts or any other mods i would have to do to pull it of right? (i know i need headers and a low pressure fuel pump/regulator).

You would have to find the Distributor from the 1st gen 13Bs. I've heard that the 12As would work, but i'm not certain of that. You'd be better find the 13b version

what kind of power would a carbed 13b make exactly... nobody knows for sure... i thought about this but after owning a first gen 12a i would rather have fuel injected... plus ive learned so much about the fuel injected i can work on it easier no matter how easy a carb is.. just my .02 cents

In theory, FI will create more power because it's more controlled and calculated. Of course, nothing beats the carb for ease of use. You'll never pass smog with that though.

You're asking one of the top 10 questions that triggers a war...

Typically, those who opt for the carb route cannot handle the complexity of modern fuel injection and especially the electrical wiring.
The electrical wiring is 90% of the troubleshooting.

The carb can, in fact, produce more power.
Why?
Cause there's no airflow meter, and the intake path is shorter.

Good luck trying to get good mileage on it though.

Getting fuel injectors professionally cleaned is not that big of a deal.
Good used parts, even stuff like stock ECU's, airflow meters are plentiful and relatively cheap.

If you're trying to work on a damaged vehicle (big accident, salvage title, flood victim), that's already a major headache to begin with.
