TX In need of a shop

ANyone know of any good reputable shops that work on rotaries in St. Louis? My dad's been driving my car since the summer and basically everything's gone wrong since he started driving it -______-. I'm in need of a general tune up, and for someone to fix whatever's going on with my engine now since the light keeps flashnig on and off, and the throw out bearing and clutch needs to be replaced along with the security system.

If you guys know of anyone in the St. Louis Missouri are please let me know, and thanks in advance.

I used to live about 35-40 minutes north/east of St. Louis, on the Illinois side. Not much of a rotary scene...

You may be able to find someone in the specified region. -> Midwest RX-7 Forum

If not, you may need to take the car up to Chicago.

All due respect, tune up is one thing any 7 owner NEEDS to know how to do. You should really start learning how to work on this car, you will throw more money than you think at it if you dont. EVERYTHING you need to know how to do can be found here on this forum.

My friend has wasted a TON of cash paying shops to do things to his FC... The result? ~$4500 wasted that he wishes he'd saved for an engine build..

Name of the FC game is DIY!

All due respect to both of you, I usually do my own work on my fc; but seeing as I'm in college in Texas and the car is in Missouri, that's pretty much an impossible feat at this moment.

St. Louis is full of incompetent rip-off artists posing as mechanics. Honestly, I have never seen anything like this in my life.

Unfortunately, the only good rotary shop is temporarily idle, but you may want to contact them to see if they have time to check out your car.

I don't suppose that you want to drive 7hrs to a rotary shop?

As for your stated issues:
- Tune up: EFI engines do not need a tune-up. If they are not running correctly then they need a diagnostic check, and will most likely require replacement of parts.
- Engine light: Take it to a mechanic who knows rotary engines.
- Throw-out bearing and clutch: Any clutch shop can fix this.
- Security system: Will probably cost more to troubleshoot and fix than it would to buy another RX-7. Recommend cleaning the contacts in the door lock switches, otherwise it is probably better to disable or replace with an aftermarket system.

If you're not there to drive it why worry ab it. Have your dad park it. And I bet you're going home for spring break. Tune up and clutch might take what half a day?

Thanks, I'm gonna look into the shop.

When I was initially looking to get my car tuned, I was bummed that Tuxedo Park was unavailable. There's got to be someone in Chicago... (Five-ish hour drive from STL.)

Why not write your father detailed tune-up instructions?
