need to replace the pre cat

Looks like I've got rust holes in the pre cat pipe so I either need to replace it or just get a straight pipe for it. Can't pass inspection with it leaking.

Any recommendations where to get one cheap or is this something a custom muffler shop could do for me?

well if you go for a mazda replacement take some lube with you and get ready to be *** raped. I would say just buy the bonez hi-flow cat which replaces all that stuff. I think it is under 300 dollars not sure though. check RX7.com for pricing.

Discount converters will sell you a replacement for all the cats for about $179, shipped.

Its all bolt in from the manifold back. Good quality stuff!.

If you buy a mazda replacement, you are going to pay about $500 for EACH cat.

Well I just bought the Bonez Super flo.
Haven't gotten it yet.

I currently have a muffler shop downpipe with cat.
It was not made correctly and applies too much pressure to the bottom.Making it pry itself open on the top and blow through gaskets.(Cat and cat back act like leverage and pull down.

I say go to a junk yard and grab a precat and gut it. That way you look stock but don't have those stupid things. From what I understand they only work for Cold start emmissions which they can't test.

Shouldn't be very expensive either.

Ya, I saw this, I may go this route. Although it looks like my main cat is in great shape except that the studs need to be replaced.

But for the main cat, I was surprised to see that it looks good considering the car has 113,000 miles on it.

Seems I'm always seeing post here about supsect clogged cats so I was expecting the worst when I yanked it off.

Sounds like a good excuse to loose the iron collector box and get a header.
Have a local shop weld it up to your preference of high flow cat or silencer.
More power is nice - right?
