Need help with replacing water pump

I am replacing the water pump tomorrow. and i do not have a service manual. I wasn't sure if there was a torque patten or something I should know. or any other helpful advice before I start. I am replacing it because it is leaking.

When you remove the old one use a chisel or sharp flat head screwdriver to separate the pump from the housing - I've been told that if you don't do this you run the risk of damaging the housing's rear gasket's seal..

Other than that, I don't think you need the service manual.. Just be careful not to over tighten the nuts.

Its pretty straight forward. Make sure you clean up the gasket surfaces good.

I got the water pump on but had to leave it at the place I was working at. It is a shop on base. I am having issues with the fitment of the corksport raditor. mainly with the shourd fitting and clearing the fan.

I'm a little late to the thread, but there is a pattern for tightening the water pump bolts listed in the Haynes Repair Manuel. Facing the pump #1 should be the bolt at roughly 3:00/4:00. #2 is at 12:00, #3 is at 6:00, #4 is at 9:00, #5 is at roughly 1:00 and #6 is at 11:00. Torque specs are listed at 13-20 ft lbs.

I've got this on my list of things to do as well. Keep having to add small amounts of coolant every month or so.

You should change out the gasket that goes between the water pump and motor block. When i changed mines, while pulling trying to get the pump out that gasket ripped. http://www.atkinsrotary.com/store/pr...cat=754&page=1
P.S. use RTV for extra sealant

Make sure your belts are not over tightened when you put them on... I made that mistake and ruined the bearing on my brand new Bosch pump. Luckily it has a 12-month warranty so i will be picking up a new one.
