need help identifying one plug on harness

ok..

on the harness for a s4 turbo II

what plug is on the same branch as the accelerated warm up .. i searched and found a good writeup (it was a thread that i started actually) but the writeup does'nt explain what plug it is ... it says that he "thinks" the other plug is something for the power steering but i dont think that is it ...

recapping its the only other plug on the same branch as the accelerated startup ...

thanks for any replys

hehe well.....
I ended up just capping mine off. I'm not using any emissions.

I think me and Onefasturborx7 went over the fsm and determined that those 2 plugs were the AWS and the a air bypass solenoid valve.

I didn't have this on my engine but I think it's because mine is a Jspec

Wire colors please. It's probably the plug for the Air Supply Valve that is used for pwr steering and hot starting. Located on the back of the throttle body. It has a light green and black wire Lg/B , and the other wire is a black/white BW

If you check the electrical section of the FSM it has pictures of the plugs and designs.

Go through it and look for the plug which has the same shape as that and then check the color coding.

I think the colors were somethign like Brown with yellow stripe and a Black with something right?

So hailers. How is it related to the power steering?
Do it add air like the BAC to help with the extra load?

so hailers, your saying that the cars ecu naturally runs the engine richer underload

My 87FSM says it's a LgB wire and a BW wire on the harness side. The wires on the asv look to me to be blue with a white stripe and a black wire with a white stripe.

It adds air to the intake manifold that and takes that air from the hose on the back of the intercooler....that's on a 87TurboII.

Here, I attached a jpg of it. I just went out and removed it from my car just for this thread.

Here: Well, they moderators don't want me to post any jpg, so back on the car it goes! It even has a dandy little adjustment screw in that tower on it. All sorts of adjustments can be made.

Here, I took the whole intake manifold off so you can see where it's located. this view is from the bottom up, to your left is the rear of the intake manifold

that picture looks like the BAC valve .. or atleast thats what i thought that is ..

yeah i dont have that ... removed it
so i can just assume that the connector that is on the same branch of the harness as the accelerated warm up is emmissions related and wont need to be plugged in?

Just to clarify.....that last picture is of ASV which is on the back of the intake. That large hose next to is the vacuum hose for the brake booster.

It's located just below the bracket that holds the cruise control cable to the intake manifold.

The bac is located on the right side of the same manifold, one inch below the AWS valve and just fwd of the aws ( really the Air Bypass Solenoid on a series 4).

Don't need no stinkin ASV. It's for sissys that have pwr steering.

I have Power steering? So what will it do to run without it?

It's a Jspec engine in a NA with PS.

all it does (from what i can tell from searching) is adjust the idle for load due to the power steering...
its not needed as far as i know .. you may need to adjust your idle up just a tad so its not noticable, but im not using anything related to emmissions or idle adjustments

Yes it does (unless someone's cut it off). The one nipple on J-spec IC's is for the ASV, the second nipple on US-spec IC's is for the AWS solenoid.

The ASV is opened whenever the power steering pressure switch in the pump detects pressure. It's open only when the steering wheel is being turned. It stops the engine from stumbling or stalling when you turn the wheel at very low revs or idle.

Hmm It was never on mine.

Here's some pics. I can't say right now if the IC has been modified but the UIM has not been touched. I went over the whole thing when I polished it.

Very interesting. The IC doesn't look modified, and you can see the blank area on the UIM where the ASV is normally mounted. What year is that J-spec?

Don't know the year. All I know is it's a S5.

The thing came to me with a capped S5 boost solenoid.
No Air pump.
Air tube blocked.
and a RE Amemiya Racing sticker on the IC.
You can see it in my sig. The sticker was just slapped over the stock 13bt sticker.

Hmm You say it's for bumped idle for PS ... Maybe it came out of a Manual rack car? Just a thought.
