Question Oil Pressure Sending Unit

Hey you all....my 88 REX SE ....when I crank it and it first starts running, the oil pressure shoots up as normal but according to the guage it drops back to zero....been driving it like that a week, not running hot, no noise or smoking...sounds like sending unit? Opinions appreciated so I can troubleshoot this ....THANKS ! !
