Need Help fast! Overheating

Im at school right now, its about30 miles from my house and my car over heated, i replaced the thermostat about a month ago. When i opened the hood it seemed like the steam was comming from right below the oil filter. Does anyony have and suggestions? There is a pepboys close by so i have access to there selection of parts and tools.

Thanks
Dan

you can also drive with heat on full blast to help cool down the engine

if there is steam coming from around the oil filter, and it is for sure coolant stem(smell it) the most likely source is a bad heater core hose, it connects just below the oil filter pedestal

Heater (water) hose under the oil filter. They have a tendency to deteriorate from the oil that runs down. Don't drive the car until it's fixed. With the temp at max you'll looking for trouble. You may be replacing an engine if your not careful.

yea i changed the hose out. it wasnt really hard to get mine off seeing as in how it was almost completely off at the block. so all i did was loosen the clamp and cut the rest of it off that was stuck on the pipe. its just a tight arear to work in.

yea they didnt have a direct replacement they dont even make one. YOu have to go to mazda to get one. I had to buy 2 hoses with a 90 deg bend and cut them to size aond connect them together. It was a tight space to work in . It took me about an hour and half to do, most of the time was taking the old hose off those old clamps that are on there are a bitch to get off. When i got the hose all back together i was still having the same problem, except that hose was not leaking. I replaced the thermostat with a cheap pep boys one. I am going to Mazda to get an OEM thermostat. The moral of this story never buy a thermostat form a local parts store they are crap, mine lasted less than a month. Buy OEM

Thanks
Dan
