Need help ASAP. possible seized engine... Need suggestions
I was just typing on my other thread, which is just below this one. If you want the link to the backstory, here it is: https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generati...start-1043711/
I just rebuilt it and have been trying to start it for 3 days.
I may be officially screwed. We went the push starting route. Engine started, then died due to low throttle. Once more, died..
The third time it started I drove it for 20 seconds, on premixed fuel, at about 3k rpm in first gear, because it wouldn't stay alive below that. It stopped for no reason in the middle of the street, skidding to a stop. I can't turn the crankshaft by hand (though I haven't put all of my weight on the bar), and I believe that it has seized. Help.
I just squirted in a bit of oil to the upper plug holes, and both plugs are hideous, though that may be just from first start up. I just don't want to damage it any further.

Update: After letting the oil sit for awhile, I've tried with the bar again. I'm getting a bit of play now...
If I'm right, that could mean a blown seal or a bad stationary gear, right?

I replied to your original thread, but I'll reply here too.
You can only move the engine a little by hand and then it locks up correct? What does the oil in the pan look like? Drain it. Sounds like a out of whack bearing. Maybe even a stat gear broke or something. You're going to need to tear it down.

Pull the top plugs and try starting with the plugs out. Let it turn over for about 10 seconds. You'll see gas mist coming out of the s/p holes. Put a dab of oil through the top s/p holes and repeat. Repeat one extra time. Replace all plugs and try to start. It just sounds like it's massively flooded to me - I had a similar issue once and thought I was screwed, but it was just flooded severely.

I missed the engine was seized. Did you put it in neutral and and turning the engine by wrench to see if you can manually rotate it??
When mine was flooded and I didn't know it it wouldn't start or run. Tried for weeks figuring it out. Tried de-flooding several times and still nothing. It wasn't until I rotated the engine by starting w/o plug installed, dab of oil & repeat, repeat. All the gas mist came pooring out. Then after a few times I could hear the pressure build up when rotating manually using a wrench on the alternator nut. I put oil in the s/p holes one last time and new plugs in and it started but it was rough until all excess was burned off.

Yeah, it's seized pretty badly. I think that the stat gear is toast, but that's just intuition. I'm about to leave for college, so I'm not sure yet what my plan is... I may rebuild it when I have the time, I may sell the car, I may even look into swapping in an available 13bt engine that my friend's dad has for sale for cheap. I'm not sure yet... :/

If it's the same series, then it's a no brainer.
