A 2nd gen with a tuned LT1 will DOMINATE anything on the road.

But I dont know to what extend his LT1 is modified.

If you like the look of the T2 hood, then get what will make you happy. Its your car after all. The only thing to realize is that people who do know what a T2 is by the hood may be more eager to race you because they know T2's are fast. Maybe get more people trying to race you, maybe not. Anyways, if you are going to do it, just at least get it painted to match your car, dont look like a ghetto honda or anything. Then should be good. T2 hoods are significatnly lighter, but do cost a pretty penny. Good luck

I was under the impression that the T2 hood actually caused problems on N/A's, something about creating higher pressure in the engine bay and higher temps, anyone else remember that post?

I agree. Especially since people around where I live dont know the difference between a N/A and a T2 regardless. Not very many people want to go at it with an RX7 in this town. Except for the mustang owners. But those guys are just out to prove something to compensate for their small *****.

Hell, most people think ALL 2nd Gens are turbo. Some even say "I thought the ones with dual exhaust were all turbos."

Well i have a tII hood on my n/a, and i must say everyone that i have met..does not know the difference between turbo and non turbo rx-7's...i like it because its alot lighter than my steel n/a hood...plus it give my car a more aggressive look...If you dont like it then too bad...Stop crying like a little baby and work on your own car...Thats like saying why put a new paint job on a old car...you are putting down all the new cars with this new paint...your car is not new its old...well whatever

Peace

yes but it gets very frustrating when all these
Honda-crap forums etc
claim to "killed"a Turbo II
when most of the time I bet they really raced a 6 port.

Hey All,

I think if you're planning on putting a turbo in your NA, that's one thing, but parading around making your car look like something it's not gives the rx-7 a bad name.

Granted, series 5 TIIs are a hard find, but Series 4's aren't.

Anyways, to each their own.
But consider, it's a lot of money for something that will be cosmetic..

How easy is it to swap the NA steel hood for a TII hood?

If you read the entire post, you would see that many people have done it for function reasons... for the fact that it weights 20 some pounds less. Hardly a simple 'cosmetic' mod if you ask me.

Besides, I bet there aren't too many stock NA FC's w/ TII hoods. I would guess that if they care about the weight like that, then they've also done some other stuff to the car. Either that or they just like the way it looks. Is that a crime?

agreed, if you don't have one then why pretend?

The T2 hood is not lighter; you must be comparing aluminum to steel. Some NA hoods are steel and some are aluminum, same goes for the t2 hoods.

Listen you flamers, if you don't like my opinion then fine go ahead and rice. Just because I don't agree with you doesn't mean I'm wrong. I had an NA, but I respect T2's and I would never try to pass my car off as something it isn't. I smell a "type R" civic that's really just a DX.

Its a hell of alot easier to find a tII hood than a aluminum n/a...i have yet to be smoked by a honda...people talk **** no matter what...so they say they killed a turbo so what...i can say i smoked a diablo cuz i was racing and he wasnt...**** i can just say i did and never have even seen one...if your worried about what honda owners say then dont surf the net.

No it isn't. A lot of T2 hoods are steel. There were a lot more NA's made, and by default there are more aluminum hoods for them.

Well here in San Antonio Tx..there are no n/a aluminum hoods that i can find..besides i trade someone on the forum a 90 front bumper for a tII hood...are you going to bitch at him for putting a 90 front clip on his 88...and changing the moldings...i also put 90 mirrors on my 86...then i swapped the whole black interior of the 90 into my 86...power windows and all...does that make me rice...OH WAIT i also put 90 tail lights on my 86...BIG RICE THERE...I KNOW ALOT OF PEOPLE HAVE DONE THAT...damn i am knee deep in rice....i got it falling out my tail pipe...some honda boy might say he beat my 90 rx-7 when its just a 86 because he knows the tail lights...wont that upset you...

This doesn't upset me, I'm sharing an observation. You can do whatever you want to your car, who am i to judge what you do? I'm just saying that I would never rice my car like that.

89+ tailights and front clip just freshin the 86-88 models a little, and there is nothing wrong with that.

The T2 was availible in series 4, so the argument about looks only stands if you are trying to make your car LOOK like a T2.

I think it's just envy that makes N/A put TII hoods on there car
period. They like the look of the TII but could not afford one.

so now they have a 16 sub 15 looking TII

i think "most" of you on this forum are too paranoid about rice. if someone wants to make their car look good (to themselves) who cares. it seems like if someone wants to do a mod to their car to make it look good they are instantly flamed.

any way i just had to get that out.

ps. RX7kid i live in beaverton and i am looking for a TII or aluminum hood, if you see this reply you should email me jeff_oner@yahoo.com if not i will talk to my brother because i think he knows you.
