NA's with T2 hoods

I think that putting a t2 hood on an NA is an insult to turbo RX-7's. Don't get me wrong i've never owned a turbo, but I've owned two Na's, but why put a T2 hood on an na??? If you drag and loose ricer's will be saying that they beat a t2 when it was just an na, please don't put a t2 hood on your car unless it's a t2. I know most ricer's won't know the difference, but I still think it shows a disrespect for T2's.

I'm very drunk so excuse this post.

Node 02-16-02 03:54 AM

how about putting a N/A hood on a T2 w/ FMIC
"good god, that N/A Coupe must've had a carbed 20B or NOS!@$!@$"

fastrotaries 02-16-02 04:09 AM

Tell the morons it's ram air....

SonicRaT 02-16-02 04:23 AM

yeah, all you NA people with T2 hoods, immediatly forfiet them to me!

Node 02-16-02 04:33 AM

All your Tubo Hoods are belong to T-II

SonicRaT 02-16-02 04:35 AM

no no no, all your turbo hoods are belong to ME, I'm in need of one!

kabooski 02-16-02 09:10 AM

so true slow n/a's with TII Hoods give True TII' s a bad name.

InfiniIIIREX 02-16-02 10:32 AM

besides, the scoop is to far back to bring a good amount of air to the engine, unless you made a metal piece to "grab" the air and bring it down to the engine, its not worth the effort though

Silkworm 02-16-02 10:51 AM

How about stop f***ing worrying about what other people do to their own damn car and worry about your own f***ing car?

I will be getting a turbo hood for my NA. It'll definitely be fast though. Who gives a crap what anyone else thinks. I think it looks good. Besides, it WILL allow some of the heat to dissapate (sorry about spelling) from the engine bay. You can be as angry as you want about the TII hood that will eventually be on my NA, but I'm not going to remove it for you. Besides. . .it will eventually have a TII or 20B engine in it. ;)

Peace, Derek

P.S. When you were "drunk," you must have forgotten that your opinion has NOTHING to do with what I do to my car. :D

I really like the look of the t2 hoods, I have an n/a and as soon as I can find one around Oregon I plan to nab it asap. Not only do they look great but the majority (if not all of them) weigh far less than my steel hood. So in actuality heat dispersment from the engine is minimal to none, yet I get that awesome look with about 20 less lbs? I suppose I could find an aluminum n/a hood, but that scoop looks so awesome. Besides you t2 guys have all the fun, let us n/a try to atleast have some bragging rights about our cars

Kerry Middleton 02-16-02 01:19 PM

The weight factor alone is a good enough reason to get a TII hood. Besides it looks great too.

Does that mean anyone with the 86-88 Tail Lights should not get the newer round ones because it may disrespect the 89-91? I don't think so.

Just had to put in my 2 cents since I have an 87 GXL with a turbo hood and round tail Lights:D

supergoat 02-16-02 01:33 PM

I would gladly put a TII hood on my N/A for a few reasons.

1) Can be lighter
2) I like the look better; I've always been a fan of small hood scoops
3) A great way to vent out hot engine air....even though the scoop's facing the wrong way for it, it's better than nothing
4) I couldn't care less if people don't like it. My intent would solely be for function, not to fool people into thinking it's a TII

So.........yep :)

Chris81 02-16-02 01:58 PM

Disgrace?

The only disgrace to TII's i see is TII owners with 150k mile engines trying to make them fast. There may be some debate, but you cant argue that higher mileage engines with vacuum leaks and 14 year old hoses CAN NOT perform like they should.

TII owners also disgrace themselves by resorting to "jspec" engines, instead of spending a few hundred extra to rebuild and engine. No, theyd rather risk their money on an engine that they have no CLUE what condition its in or how long it will last.

Shit, at least a TII hood belongs on a FC. If your gonna get on people about bieng a disgrace, there is far worse to talk about, including alot of stupid thing TII owners do to their own cars.

Besides, how many honda owners know what the hell an RX7 looks like.. let alone the difference between a NA and Turbo?

I had to put a TII hood on my n/a. It was there when I destroyed my old hood, and was cheap. As soon as I can afford it, I will go back to n/a hood though. I agree, it is an insult if you just do it for looks! Mine is out of necessity.

Angel Guard Racing Team 02-16-02 04:49 PM

Jesus Christ!!!!!!!!!! Just leave the hood on!!!!!!!!!!!

BlackSport0187 02-16-02 05:13 PM

I have an NAs and I have a Turbo II hood. When I get the time I will have it painted and put on my car. It looks better, weighs less, and no matter what you say it does let more heat out than if it wasn't there. Why must you Turbo guys rag on us NAs? We're all Mazda guys, we are a dying breed and we need to stick together.

Mine looks innocent... 87 N/A GXL Auto tranny (Slapped in a turboII's turbo and intercooler). i love to see the face of the guys driving mustangs when I pass them by and they can't do shit about it.

I've had both NA and T2 hood. I dont know what you guys are bragging about how your T2 hood is lighter. The NA hood is lighter, probably stronger too because it is more rigid. As for performance, I will be damned if you claim that your T2 hood will give you more performance. Hell the only thing that gave me was headache from the nasty wind noise above 70mph.

von 02-16-02 05:31 PM

First off the only reason why I would put a t11 hood on is 1 for looks 2 becaouse its 22 pds lighter. I would rather have aluminum N/A hood that is almost 5pds lighter. But if u cant find one like I did then go for the turbo hood. And what about the slow turbos. Im worthy of the turbo hood because im confident now that I can beat one in my N/A. Stock t11 are slow anyways. So why cant a fast N/A have one. I say fuck it and do anything your brave little heart disires. What about turbo rims.. Is someone going to go oh shit, na hood and turbo rims... Now what. R we supose to leave are cars stock...R thier rules to the mod game or something.. Its not like thiers compitition on the street between rx7s and other cars from the east side yo.
