Question Name Designation

Ok, simple question: What do all of the three letter names mean? GTU, GT-X... There are so many, I get lost. If you know what eavh means, that would be nice. Oh yeah, I know what TII means, I'm not a total moron...

GTU and GTUs represent Mazda winning the GTU class (Grand Touring Under 3 liters) in IMSA until IMSA banned the engine.

So GTU Grand Touring Under 3 liters
and GTUs Grand Touring Under 3 liters Sport

GT-X is a japanese designation for a T2.

They all are just sub-models in the RX-7 line.

NO, that's just some BS somebody made up and it stuck. In Japan, all 2nd gens were Turbos (even the 'vert), so they weren't called "Turbo II"; they had multiple designations to represent various trim lines, like the US NAs did. So, they had a GT, GT-R, GT-X, GT-Limited, and so forth. Base, Luxury, Sport, and whatever (don't ask me which was which). GT-Rs and GT-Xs were offered at the same time, so there is absolutely no basis for using those trim designations at a reference to model years.
