N/A to turbo conversion! yes i read the thread

Im still very new to the rotary, so please bear with my lack of knowledge. I read and understood most of it. My question is if i have a '87 n/a and find an '87 turbo parts car with motor, tranny and just about everything else, will i need anything else from something different to make this work? Id think not but like i said im new.

...Whats wrong with the parts car?

And i'd would be easiest to do a complaint drivetrain swap: ECU, sensors, turbo, engine, tranny, driveshaft, dif, halfshafts. If you've got one pots, might as well do the entire rear end to the tII rear.

theres somethign wrong with the ignition system and the whole inside is junk, broken windows, but when it runs it runs good, cant drive it because of alignment is shot, the kid says he hit a pot hole, but by the looks of it id say it was a 4 foot wall buried at the edge of a road, also known as a curb. but he said i could have the car for 400 bucks, i figured that would be the way to go to get the t2 stuff.

Yeah I'd fix up the TII and dump the N/A.

But personally I was thinking that mabye an NA could handle a turbo if it was set for like 5psi boost. Would that work with a do it yourself turbo kit?

If the TII is trashed just transfer EVERYTHING into the n/a. Engine and all sensors and ****, ECU, harness, drivetrain, rear, etc etc etc.

or sell it to ME, si I can swap over MY vert.

j/c, yeah, pull everything from the TII and put it all into the NA, Unless you got a GTUs (which I doubt). Everything would include the motor (long block), all wiring, tranny, driveshaft, rear end (Differential to hubs). Depending on the mileage of the TII, you may go ahead and change the clutch, pressure plate, t/o and pilot bearings, and front cover while the motor and tranny are out (will save a big headache after a few thousand miles). While it is out, go ahead and change motor mounts, tranny mounts, and you may even decide to paint the engine bay (on the NA). If your changing motor mounts, some people sell performance mounts, I can't find them right now, but it is real early, you can do a search and see what you some up with.

If the TII suspension is in good shape, most likely it would be an upgrade from your NA suspension. I'll leave that up to you and your findings of the particular model you have.

Anyway, have fun. And let us know how it goes, and take some pics.

All of this is clearly coverd in the FAQ. It's quite detailed. Also, any amount of searching would have turned this information up. Thread closed.
