Post your stereo (head unit) install picts

Just curious to see some pictures. There hasn't been one of these threads in quite awhile, and im sure therse some new ideas since then. So please post your picts of your stereo head unit. I'm not that interested in subwoofer systems, but post those if you really feel like it. Just looking for some new ideas, I need to do something other than having two stereos, one to work, other to keep the working one held up in the dash.

Also if anyone can post what dash install products they used, or made, tha'd be great!

TIA

just buy some aluminum and make a support stand... its strong enough to hold up yet weak enough to work with without welding tools

Or spend $10 to buy the dash kit and save the time and ghettoness of rigging something.

what i am going to do is rig up a cheaper tape deck into my car but i am going to put it into the trunk and wire a toggle switch to it to turn it on and off.... the reason for this is because i have a vert and verts are easy to get in so i dont want a fancy cd player for anybody to jack plus i want just guages in the dashpanel... this way i can turn on the tape deck... preset to a channel and then have a cd changer wired into that with a external lcd screen to select the cd and songs i want... it sounds ghetto but only if not done properly... i never listen to the radio anyway unless i dont have a cd player

I made the top piece and painted a piece of air conditioner foam to fill in the space next to the Sirius receiver.

Here's a slew of pics of my head unit and the rest of my stereo system. Now I am working on a cheap alternative for a high amperage alternator. I am projecting a cost of $125-150 for a 110-130 amp output alternator with minor alterations to the wiring under the hood. I will keep you guys posted on it.

The picture makes everything look a little crooked for whatever reason, but it's mounted solidly. Works damn well too.

Cool get a good deck

I have a vert also, i chose a flip down mask, it tend to park with my top down, my alarm rolls the windows up and i feel pretty confident that it will be there when i get back. If you think about it, it is easier to break your window to steal you deck then it would be to get in with the top up.

you should go look for his post for his custom install of it. major kudos to uRizen for doing something a little different that hasn't been done before. and considering how well done it was and how nice the unit was, it wasn't that expensive either.

Matt.

i'd post a pic of my setup but the stock setup is way too cool to show most people.

Not the best pic, but you get the idea...

I just removed the stock cassette player from the stack, and replaced it with the after market head unit - as they are both 1 DIN. The stock radio and EQ still light up, and when the faceplate is removed from the Alpine unit, the whole thing looks pretty stock. All that, and the whole unit is as solid as the stock setup.

Here's two of my installs from my old FCs. I wasnt too fond of the silver headunit since it stood out way too much (gift) but it did its job well. I used a sheet of carbon fiber out of a scrap pile for the "kit". I was going to put some gauges on top of the HU (like the first pic) but a wall hit my car destroying all future plans for it. I think that turboII is now the soda can in my hand.

Unfortunately, I don't have the exact dimensions of the panels for my subs.

All I did was make a 2-piece plate that fit snug in the back. The angle is roughly 35 degrees or so and I made it out of 3/4" chip board and then spray adhered the carpet to it.

It hits nice and hard, very clean. You can't rattle other cars outside without creating some distortion, but inside the car is punches your back.

I didn't actually....

I used the base of an old ash tray, then fabbed up a metal bracket that echoed the shape of the stock ashtray lid - but also securely holds the SAFC. I then covered it in a suede material, and voila! I also made a metal cover for the unit and covered it with suede as well.
