It kinda looks liek the tank is gunna be sticking out a bit, but that could be my point of view, since you dont really have a side by side pic of the stock tank and the new one...

I was telling SonicRAT the other night on AIM:

Looking at this thread, the surge tank, imagine going to a gas station and popping your hatch to fill up your tank, take that from another persons POV, a guy sticks his gas nozzle into his trunk and starts pulling the handle
I'm sorry I'd walk over there and ask him if he had too many meds that day...until I saw the cell in the back then I would literally ROFL, like the smiley that rolls across the screen...

Since it's a race car, I would guess, and not much of a street car, I don't think that's much a worry. But who knows?

Yea, I guess. I forgot that it's a race car only.

Yeah, but he doesn't really say if it is race car or not, so I'm not sure... The smell is going to suck if you're just driving around on the streets. I hope for his own sake he gets a scatter shield, since it looks like he's going to try to stuff 500+ down that N/a driveline!

its going to be half and half but more of a race car than a street car.

Yes i'm looking into the scatter shield.

Some more pics from today, got the new bushings in the subframe and diff and reinstalled them, what a *****, also start cleaning up the hatch area but ran out of paint, using the same paint as the motorbay, the Hammered

Finally bought the materials to hang the gas tank so that will get done tomorow night and will be the end of under the rear of the car for now.

Great, more proof that I'm the slowest FC builder out there.

That is a wild tank setup you have, I wouldn't drive it on the street like that but it's your car (and life).

I should rephrase myself here. High compression can be tuned with boost to allow for no detonation. However, really high numbers, and its gonna be hard. You're going to need a very cool (literally) intake charge to help combat detonation. Im just saying that with 9.0 or less, your going to find that with the right parts you can hit 500hp, where as with the same parts and 9.7:1 your going to find 500hp much harder to reach.

I shouldn't have said that its impossible.

With a decent intercooler and a decently efficient turbo that's actually kept in it's range, it's not as hard as everyone thinks. So long as you know the temperature rise and keep everything in check accordingly (ie, not running 25lbs on a T04E that's only 68% efficient, and wondering why it works on a 8.7:1 but not a 9.7:1)

Personally I'd love to keep the 9.7:1 compression ratio for a boosted setup, but I just wouldn't want to risk easy detonation becuase I am inexperienced. I just think it would suck *** on a new motor and your first run through the rev ranges and find out you blew the rear rotor... lol. I spose im just being paranoid, it seems like the guy who started this thread knows what he is doing and is prepared to deal with 9.7:1.

also i'm testing the whole setup on this oldmotor before i get a new motor

i'm also using the 9.4:1 na rotors right now but in the new motor might be doing the 9.7:1 rotors.
