Just to let you know, that is either a j-spec engine or was rebuilt with an S5 center iron.

I was gonna' use those clamps on my fuel line but some people say they leak, i'd either use 2 at once or use t-bolt style clamps.

Edit: the fuel rails are j-spex, so feel more confortable that that isn't the original engine, what are the compression numbers on it?

The USDM S4s had egrs on the center iron, the JSpecs do not(I have one waiting to be rebuilt). Also the fuel lines are on opposite ends on J-Spec engines.

The raised part is made to have an egr there on american S4s.

OMG! GODDAMN IT! Well... SO far Im almost done, only lack intercooler and exhaust. I decide Ill go ahead and fill the fluids while Im resting. I fill the rad and decide I will squeeze the upper hose to run some of it down into the system so I can top off a little more. When I squeeze it I look down and happen to catch some green coming from the water pump area. It looks like its coming from the center seal around where the pulley comes out. It started as a little drip now it flows free on its own. What the hell would cause this? I know a bad seal, but how would it start so suddenly? I never touched it while I was cleaning and replacing stuff. Before I took the engine out Im not sure if it leaked at all, though that may have been where my coolant was going. But it was slow if it was. Now its not drivable as it probably free leaks 1/2 liter per minute, with pressure more Im sure. ****, here goes another $200 I cant afford to spend. Is it ussualy good to buy a new housing too as its only an extra 40 bucks on mazdatrix

Got it all back together finally. Been having trouble getting it started the last few days. Took a whole day tryin to figure out something I may have left unplugged, then yesterday I discussed it and a local rotary guy I know told me to pull it behind a truck and see if that would maybe make it crank. The thing will just spin over and over and never even attempt to fire. While pulling it it did the same. No backfires, spits or sputters, just a spinning engine. I thought I was sure of fuel and spark but this afternoon I took the fuel pump cover off and unplugged both hoses and then clicked on my fuel pump and got nothing. Im getting voltage at the EGI fuse, so it must be between the EGI fuse and the pump. Tomarrow Im going to just run new wires to the pump and be done with it. If the pump still works that is, but I dont see the pump failing while sitting for a month with no usage. hese some quick pictures i took before dark.

I rushed some of it near the end, so it could be a little cleaner. To me though, thats a ton better than it was. I hope when it starts I dont have any leaks, or any other problems. *crosses fingers*

Yeah, as soon as Im not a broke *** anymore, I plan on full racing beat system, intake mod, either hybrid turbo or large aftermarket turbo, but then my rtek 1.8 would be under doing it, so id have to go standalone and larger secondaries. Im not 100% set on a path, but mods will come soon. I had a few mods but I sold them to a freind, the owner of the silver T2 in my pictures. I needed money

Got it running today. It ended up being the fuel lines reversed. Guess I got in a hurry and overlooked it. Now all i have an issue with is my brakes. For some reason all of my brake fluid decided to leak out, even though I touched nothing involving brakes. They have worked fine with no leaks up till now, so what gives!? I also have some smoke but Im not sure if its a leak or just anti seize amd paint burning off of the hot parts. I let it idle for about half an hour and still had a little smoke, so its probably partly fluids. I still have a small exhaust leak by the main cat, so some of the smoke is probably also coming up into the engine bay making it look like that is where its coming from. Either way it runs pretty well. Idle is a little smoother than it was, at about 1200RPM. Starts up pretty easily with less use of fuel cutoff switch. Clutch feels like its working like it should though I still have some noise when the clutch isnt being pressed. I have a new pilot bearing/seal and new t/o bearing and a trans front cover and seal so it might just need time to wear into its groove. Overall Im pretty happy. I hate dealing with brakes so that has me a bit pissed off, but oh well, what can you do other than bitch about it.
