Is my turbo blown?Strange sound, NO SMOKE AT ALL(videos included)

Greetings from Greece.

A few days ago i was boosting my FC and when i shifted to 5th gear i heard a strange sound coming out from the turbo. The sound is like a funny "wooosh" everytime i boost and it faints slowly when i let off the gas pedal.
Sounds also like a blow off valve that remains open for a long time.

Sounds like these turbos:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wy2l-...eature=related

The strange thing is that the car doesnt smoke AT ALL, boosts ok and the engine sounds ok too.Thats why i am comfused...
Can it be something else than a blown turbo?A valve gonna bad or something like that?

The car has a brand new engine core and my mods are:
80mm downpipe
HKS "mushroom like" air intake
Front mount intercooler

I checked the turbo 3 months ago and it was in good condition.

Thanks in advance.

If your boost is fine, the turbo itself is fine.

Also if it was blown you would feel a dramatic power loss.
Like everyone else said, check the valve.

you can take off your intercooler then look inside the IC piping. If there is oil in those pipes, it's coming from your turbo.

^^^^^If it boosts fine, then it is probably a bent fin or 4. A buddy of mine had a t2 that ran perfectly fine, but sounded "supercharged" due to bent compressor fins.

I'd check for shaft play as in the video it looked like it was moving around quite a bit.

Although, if it boosts fine, I think it sounds f*cking cool. I would keep it like that personally if your not seeing any power loss and its boosting fine...

Ok...so my turbo was actually blown...
Here is the pic of the destroyed "hot side".
This is what happens when your BOV doesnt work well...

Yeah, those are some broken fins. It probably still boosts, but that's definitely not good.

LOL. I was searching google about FC3S weird sound turbo problems and I clicked on my own old topic. Really funny to realize that I have the exact same problem that I had 14 years ago! I had totaly forgotten it. That's why this forum is an info treasure for all rotary enthusiasts. It's also a detailed catalog of all the problems we have dealt with our cars all these years. Thank you forum!

Just for logging my previous problems and also to help other rotary brothers...I was lucky and the turbo is fine. The FMIC hose was off and that's why it was sounding like that. I put it back in place and now boosts fine again!
