Yeah I was trying to jam a screwdriver in it, but mainly cause I was so pissed off. Now that I know that my actions are justified I'm going to go smash that **** to pieces Thanks!

and if push comes to shove and it won't come off I'm gonna ask my mom. haha

+1 I just did my first oil change on my 7 yesterday and I could'ntr et it off so I stuck a screwdriver in the side and then it came off with a bit of abuse lol..

make sure to lube the gasket up very good so it dont happen again..

put some rags under and around the filter to and have some brake cleaner handy to clean any messes

I think this filter is the hardest one I've ever had to deal with. I've done plenty of them and usually when it's stuck my wrench can get it off but damn this ones a bitch...

I personally like to use a set of giant vice grips.

I had to do it on my 1970 Dodge Challenger back in the day... First try went in fine but couldn't get it to turn, just made a bigger hole! Second try same thing so I just tore it apart and finally put a pair of vice grips on it and got it off.

If you drain the oil out and wait a bit, then there wont be any oil in the filter, FYI.

Other than that one I've never had one on anything else give me a problem. I should have punched a hole in the bottom and let it drain but at the time...

In fact, if the car hasn't run in a while there shouldn't be any oil in the filter anyway.
That said, we have it so easy changing out oil filters. You should try my wife's Mazda 6. The filter is wedged above the exhaust manifold in a way that you cant get a filter wrench around it without being a contortionist. I don't even do the oil changes on her car anymore, I just take it to a lube place....
