P trim turbine wheel
V trim compressor wheel
T3 thrust bearing
dynamic seal
new jrl bearing
turb piston seal

On the second pic there I thought that you welded the compressor housing to the center piece or something lol then I saw the third pic and saw it was the turbing housing in heat wrap

I bought a blown s5 hybrid for dirt cheap $30 and gave it to my tuner to send off to be rebuilt. The hybrid conversion prior to mine was a total hack job. The exhaust wheel was way too big for the compressor wheel and threw it out of balance very quickly leaving probably about 1/8" of shaftplay. The rebuilder said if I were to rebuild it the same way it would last me probably 20k miles before it would develop massive shaftplay again so I obviously went a different route.

Anyways it was sent to this place called Autoturbo (I forget where it is) and it cost me $550 including shipping both ways. The polished compressor housing was $75 so I got a really sweet deal. Not too sure if it was that cheap because it was already converted to a hybrid or not but both wheels were changed and all that new stuff I listed above installed.

I'm pushing for around 350whp with 1000cc secondaries controlled by an SAFC2. All my other mods are listed in my vbgarage found in my sig. I was told the compressor wheel can push out about 400whp and the flow rate potential of the hotside wheel is around 600whp.

Incredible deal compared to that of BNR. Not knocking BNR or anything, I actually used to have one but sold it and never got to try it out.

I got it from a member on the forum. It was $130 IIRC. I put it on my friend KA-turbo and after a hard drive you can put your hand right on the shielding and it's warm just like freshly done laundry! It should lower engine bay temps a great deal (more than what I hoped the thermal wrap on the DP would).

Good! Looks damn fantastic really, I was pondering doing this with my GT35R, but I was afraid that holding the heat in might be worse than letting it vent... Any thoughts on this since the turbo would run considerably hotter I'd imagine?

Thanks! Well my logic is this: it only covers the hotside of the turbo keeping the air superheated much like how thermal wrap works giving you a few hp maybe because the exhaust gases travel much more quickly right? Well the turbo blanket also helps to lower engine bay temps, therefore low air intake temps. It makes sense to me but sometimes I'm alone in my thinking.

Yeah, I definatly wanted to use it for the lower engine bay temps, but I was afraid of the heat being trapped for when you shut the car down/etc, and not having as much ability to dissipiate to the air, most of this is resolved with a turbo timer allowing it to cool, but it's still the one thing I was worried about.

you want to keep the heat in, it allows the flow to be smoother. there is a reason the stock turbos have heat shields and it isn't just to reduce engine bay temps but that is definitely a plus.

if it is coolant cooled also i wouldn't worry about the cool down time much unless you like boosting up until you park.

Yeah, for a car that's going to spend quite a bit of it's time on the track, that's what I was curious about, probably just being my paranoid self as always!

That turbo looks like a lot of fun.
Hopefully I'll be able to keep up with you if I can keep my bitch running
You know what would match that turbo perfectly?

I'm hoping for around 300-350 on a conservative tune at 12 psi.

I just got back from the bar actually.

Hondahater- I have a friend who's car I am helping out with. He bought the other pair of "890 marren injectors" which turned out to be 330ccs. you may want to PM him if you need to get additional info or something. his username is fcdropinthetop

What are you doing on the net this late?

I'll definately report on the turbo blanket. Not sure if I'll start a new thread or add it to my DEI thermal wrap thread. I'm sure it will work though since I tested it out on another car already.

I'd aim for 400whp if I had a standalone but the SAFC2 is limited in many ways. Hopefully the rtek for s5's will come out soon and I'll retune down the road. I'm aiming for a dyno day sometime mid next month.

I need to get some sleep. Need to wake up early tomorrow for an appointment to get my windows tinted.
