i have an 88 GTU. short and sweet my engin oil smells like gas and sometimes in the car it smells like gas. and when i open the hood after a drive it smells like gas. im really scarred that im going to blow up... well not really but im scared that this problem will eat a hole in my pocket. i mean serously i have gotten 150 miles on 3/4 of a tank of gas. please any info is great. i will also look at forems and archives too.

 

check the pulse dampener. the mushroom shaped thing down hovering above your o2 sensor above your manafold. check for any wet areas @ all,

about the oil i cant tell ya. it might be a minor oil seal leak. if your not smoking its no problem (at least me and my friend been driving around on leaky oil seals for a year now with no problem)

its about a puls dampener problem.

the gas smell. it might be just a simple exhaust leak. unless the smell is strong. idk. rx7's make alot of wierd smells.....

i know when my cats are burning i know when my gaskets are burning @ the leaks. i know when i am runing to rich. thats what i love bout my rx7.

check PD.
check exhaust.

rev engine to 5k. hold it for about 5-30 seconds. if it smokes
you have a oil seal leak. nothing to worrie about. just something to be aware of if driving hard.

Leaky injectors? Or clogged injectors shooting raw fuel instead of a mist. I'm trying to picture the path it would take to the oil pan but the only way I can think of would be passed side seals and down the center iron. Is the car hard to start after sitting a while(like the fuel pressure has dropped in the system)?
