well if it floods it wont start. I have flooded my car about 6 times. two times cuz I was stupid. Usually happens after a short drive like from the street to the garage and then you shut down.

Is it a non-turbo or turbo? what kind of mods have you done? This can help determine if its normal, or not normal for you to go through plugs. On a stock non-turbo , I've driven one for about 20,000 miles before even thinking about changing the plugs, but if its a high output turbo, I was changing plugs every 6,000 miles on my 3rd gen. Just some examples

Oh yeah, 1987RX7guy, I'm not sure what your describing is actually flooding. Alot of times, mostly on the second gen, if you start a cold motor and then shut it down before getting warmed up, the apex seals are hot, but the rotors are still cold. Hot is drawn to cold, so the hot apex seals contract into the grooves of the rotor, causing no compression. I've seen about 15 non-turbos do this, and can be very hard to restart. DEZERTE I guess you car could be flooding, but why? If its fuel injected, maybe you have a leaky injector, or a clogged air filter, clogged cat, bad ignition coils ect. which could cause a rich condition. Make sure you have the right heat range plugs too.

Hmmm, sounds all good, I cant remeber the heat range, you have to check with a mazda manual, or ask around. If you have a intake and headers, I'd say its not totally out of question that the plugs are lasting only 3 months with that setup. Headers kinda eat up plugs faster, as I found on a first gen with headers. It sounds kinda short still, how many miles do you drive in a month? freeway or city?

what kind of buildup is on the plugs? You may be running rich, or have oil burn, or be too advanced/retarded, etc.

They don't look too bad actually. Anyway, pull out the two leading plugs, turn the car over about 5 times for about 5-10 seconds each time (pull out the EGI fuse so you don't go sparking and igniting fumes (i've done that before, hehe)) then stick them back in replace the fuse and try again

Under the hood, on the drive side strut tower, it's the fuse closest to the passanger side (should be 30amp)

Heh. When I did that there was a big cloud of smoke and crap came out... I was almost tempted to set the spark plugs a few inchs above the engine bay and turn it over with them sparking

Woo, no problem! next time it does that, before you go cranking away on it like crazy, push the gas pedal to the floor (it cuts fuel on series 5 cars (89-92)), and you can probably save yourself the having to take the plugs out/swap them around. Usually that should work fine, but there are those extreme cases.

those plugs looked just fine to me...i've had them look worse than that... just take a wire brush and clean them off--soaking them in carb cleaner helps to loosen up the carbon...if you don't have any carb cleaner on hand just use some vinegar... The plugs don't look like the problem; Its probably flooding out or something else!

Have your injectors inspected and cleaned. One of them is probably leaking, causing the flood.
