Great job... Black is hard to paint. The car is 180deg from where it was when you bought it..

You should really invest in an HVLP gun.. Saves so much material.

indeed. black is VERY hard to paint....well the prep was the worst for me...then having a cheap gun on top of it all didnt make it any easier...but thanks...IF i hav another project i will indeed use a better gun.

there is something about black rims with a polished lip. once i talk to my powdercoating people i will know what its going to be. i may use that same POR15 material for my rims also. and i will be dropping it but not much. just enough to fill the gaps. going to look into springs soon since i already have new shocks.

I'm trying to figure out where you live by your pics but I can't place it. Oh well,Glad to see it back on the ground. I'd do the black rims with the polished lip too. It is really hard to drop a car down around here do to the conditions of the roads. You go to low you're going to be ripping **** off quick. A little bit of drop will help it out alot. Good luck man. It's lookin sweet.

I have a question. What tools and machinery did you use for the paint job? It looks really nice. And did you get the paint from a website?

welder, nails, vice grips, bondo, sanding blocks, LOTS of sandpaper...the paint is from NAPA..its a black martin-senour paint, primer and clear. and a 20 gallon air compressor from sears along with a WALMART special paint gun.

No problem man any time. It's more fun when you have someone there helping ya out anyways.

I'm not sure when I'll be able to stop down but one of these days hopefully. Working all the time anymore.

Any updates to this amazing build thread? I'm hopeing sometime soon I can get enough money and time to actually start a build like this. Yea paint and everything. Just reading and seeing pics of how you did it taught me a lot about it. Thank you THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH for what you did bringing this thread to life. Pics and lots of info from everyone is awesome.

I'm also loving how your paint and car came out. So, how is it so far? Still running strong? Sorry to revive an old thread but I just had to know.

its great to see people actually care about this like i do!!
the snow is just holding me back right now. im counting the days untill i can get it on the road again. im thinking i may send the injectors out to have them balanced and cleaned for a safety measure while the UIM is off. i havent touched the car in a little while. i really whish i could. i have no garage anymore and its killing me.

WHEN i do get going on this project again:
new brace for the haltech TPS sensor, flowed and balanced injectors and ill get some foam from the hardware store to pack between the rad and support and other places to help the air flow.
other than that its on a stand still untill the snow goes away.

again, thanks for the interest and kick in the pants to get the ball rollin again!!

Yea, the snow really is a pain in the *** when it comes to cars. Sorry you dont have a garage anymore. That should be your project while it is snowing :P Build yourself a "garage" lol. If I was anywhere near you I would come out and help you build one cuz I know how it is not having one. I have a "2" car garage, but can only fit 1 car in there with al lthe junk we have
