My 7's magic trick

Drove it yesterday just fine, parked it for about 2 hours, went back out clutch was dead. Looked at slave and newly installed ss tranny line, and even looked around the master cylinder. didn't see any leaks, but the resivior was almost completly empty.

Got my room mate to come out and pump the clutch after i filled the resivior back up, but it held pressure and didn't have any leaks. drove it the rest of the night and parked it. This morning I get in and the clutch is pretty much dead. I think it's a leak but I have no idea where. I'm on the verge of doing some suspension upgrades so i'd really not want to shell out 200 bucks unless absolutly necessary.

check the master cylinder itself for leaks. it'll leak intyernally and drip on the inside of the car or it can leak around the seal between the master and the booster.

alright.... That is probably it. A couple days ago I have heard at different times a squeek when i depress the clutch, do you think it would just be a leak around where the pedal connects? I guess that means I will need to get a rebuild kit for it... I'll pull it and find out for everyone.

That's the symptom...If the slave cylinder is not new, then bet on replacing it as well. The SS clutch line puts more pressure on the cylinders (the old rubber line would inflate slightly) and thus will make marginal cylinders fail fairly soon.

So would you recommend replacing them altogether or just rebuilding them Aaron?

my 7 is very tricky and well... just plain out smarting me. so i got my rebuild kits from mazdatrix today and i go out to my car to pull the master cylinder and get it ready for the rebuild. note that the last time i saw the resivior it was half full/almost gone sorta deal. i went out there today and the resivior is completly filled to max. i didn't add anything, i didn't touch my car since it happened and it did this... any ideas? it's like the fluid was just held up some where and couldn't get back to the resivior. my pedal hold pressure, it feels nice. so what the heck is going on?!

i'm guessing to rebuild it anyway.....sounds like your cylinder may be getting stuck and not letting the fluid back into the reservoir. Might be a good idea to just go ahead and rebuild it, and put new fluid in also. You never know how much gunk is in old fluid.

It's already too late for me to rebuild it today, i'll drive it around and see what it's like in the morning. I will probably rebuild it soon, but if it's not causing any trouble then i might as well run it into the ground. I'm not too worried about the fluid being gunked up I already flushed my system when i installed the ss line about 2-3 weeks ago. If it lasts i'll hold on to it until around thanksgiving when i'm doing all my upgrades and getting everything on. but seriously it makes me wonder what other "tricks" my car is going to play on me. maybe i should change it's name to the mad hatter (jk).

^^not recommended. The last thing you need is failure at a critical time. You already have the parts. Best to get it out of the way instead of getting stranded.
