my 1990 FC and my Brother

ok so while i was at work my little brother who is in love with my car went to go start it and let it run like i do to make sure the seals are still good (i dont trust my second gen) and he starts it up then .....after about 5 seconds he says he turned it off......im thinkin oh ****..........he flooded it...sure enough i get home and its flooded. i took out the egi fuse and tried that 10 times.....should i do the atf trick or what?
how do i get my hand on a fuel cut off switch?
also has anyone ever tried puttin 2 cycle gear oil into your gas tank? would that hurt anyhting?

When I flooded my car and the egi fuse trick didnt work I used some atf, and after about 10 more tries, i got it started...and filled my block with smoke. But I think I heard the atf isnt good for your motor or sumthin, not sure what an alternative would be.

if the egi fuse dosen't work there r many other ways to unflood it, the on i use is:
remove egi fuse, remove spark plugs, (please don't smoke anywhere around the car) turn engine over for about 10sec. 5 times with 10sec breaks in between, dry spark plugs and reinstall, put egi fuse back in and attempt to start

use the above method, but put a little (teaspoon) MMO or something of the sort in the comustion chambers while you have your plugs out. It will help build compression, and the fuel strips the oil from the rotor housings, so lube em' up while your there

not trying to be offensive, but in love with your car or not, why did you give him access to your keys? I live a with a friend of mine who's 15 going on 16 and I've only even let him in that side of the car once...

You have a 90. ONLY on the S5s can you turn the key till the idiot lights come on, gas pedal to floor, crank. The S5 ECU knows that your trying to deflood it and will cut the flow of gas.

S4s attempting to do this will just get more flooded.

Only time you won't to really use 2-stroke is when you block of the OMP that way oil isn't really running your car like it would..... otherwise it's useless. There is a thread about switching to 2-stroke. I forget which thread, but go to search and type in "2-stroke" - read up on it before you decide to do it. There are and have been some problems that I've seen in person with it....

To unflood your car, do the ATF trick, normally that works...

Create a potential for fuel leaks.

The unflooding procedure I used when I had an S4 GXL, was this.

1. Pull EGI fuse
2. Floor accelerator and crank the engine in 10 second bursts about 3-5 times.
3. Replace EGI fuse and crank the engine while flooring the accelerator.

This worked 90% of the time. If it didn't, I would just start over and pray.

i have unflooded S4's and S5's i never had to floor it. it would start up after it started i had to give it some gas to clear up the plugs then it would be fine. you can do the hold the gas pedal down to start a S5 when its flooded only a little. otherwise out comes the fuse. my 89 TII had a bad flooding problem. the more i drove the better it got and eventually the flooding problem went away

whoa man, I always put the gas to the floor and try cranking her up. Thats what I was told to do by the rotory guy at a mazda dealer. I've never needed to do the fuse stuff or what not. But that was with my old engine.

not true. I can hot-start my S4 with the pedal trick just like an S5.

He's right in the sense that only series5 had the fuel cut-off programmed in the ecu, however it does help start some cars even by holding it full open (such as the series 4's when they're flooded) Sometimes it works, sometimes it makes it worse
