Mounting Black Magic

Ok, i've looked and searched and found no real hard evidence of a thread where somebody gave insight or directions on how to mount the Black Magic E-fan to the stock radiator. Anybody out there want to shoot me in the right direction or give pictures and whatnot please fill me in.

I've got a bookmark on my home PC for a company that makes a shroud for our radiators for like $80 or something. I'll post it when i get home from work.

thanks but i was thinking something more along the likes of free or a couple bucks to do this. i know i'm not going to pay $80 for something i'm going to use for a short amount of time and then get rid of a couple months down the road when i get a fluidyne.

So either wait until you get the Fluidyne or just zip tie it to the stock rad.

CNYRX7TECH says him and Geoffman are probably going to come down tomorrow for the day and then go to home depot and put on a clinic or something.we should se eif we can get those other 2 guys from the outback to go as well. anyways looks like zip ties is going to be the way to go untill i can come up with the $400 or so for the new rad.

I just used 4 "zip ties" that you can get special for radiators. Its basically a cord with 2 padded discs at each end and you pull the cord through until it tightens the fan to the radiator. The cords go inbetween the fins on your radiator (right through them). Forget trying to mount it with the brackets and stuff, doesnt work. Just use the fan itself and 4 of those special zip tie radiator mounts. Should only cost a few dollars, its what i did on my car and i have a black magic fan too. I hope that helps!

Good Idea! Do you think the regular zip ties will work?
If not, does Wal Mart have them?

I don't have the Black Magic. I have a set of nasty dual fans off a big Buick. If it can cool the Buick's V8, it'll cool my RX-7 w/Fluidyne. These things move A LOT of air.

I used the 90 degee monting plates for my Black Magic 150. 3 of the 4 rods (used to mount the fan on plates) were used. The other one, at the drivers side, lowest to the ground, would not meet clearance. It never occurred to me to use zip ties perhaps It sound unsafe IMO. I guess I have these big ol *** HEAVY mounting brackets staring at me now. I see a mod In the near future. Where did you guys get the special zip ties used for Rad/fan hold downs? This Is new to me.

Any autostore carries the packs of zip ties. Autozone, Pep Boys, ect.

Personally, I would not use zip ties to hold a fan down.

Ha. Really? I already think I know that. Anyway, was their a brand name that caters to such a mod? Or quite simply Heavy Duty zip ties? Or heat resistant zip ties?

I think you should have understood that from the begining Instead of trying to make me look like an ***.

Anyway there just generic, heavy duty zip ties. Use High temp to be safe.

Peace.

It's called a "Transmission cooler mount kit" at most local auto parts stores.

Summit sells them: (a bit on the pricey side though...)
