New suspension: KYB AGX and Eibach Springs= $610
Exhaust: Racing Beat header= $225
Hollow your stock cat= FREE
Exhaust shop Custom straight pipe= ~$100
Rice muffler or Flowmaster Muffler= ~$100
___________________________________
Total ~$1035

You can probably save a bit more by looking around but this was a quick estimate.
Try to save enough to get a new K&N filter (cone or box)

BTW, this setup will more than likely be very loud.

Oh yeah, search noob.

Racing Beat Header: 225
Cat replacement pipe: 45 (I got mine made for 25)
SAFCII:200
Wideband o2 sensor and readout.: 350
K&N drop in filter: 70 or you could buy a cone filter, prelude intake kit, and fab your own cold air intake.: 150

Total: ~950

And yes Catback means the exhaust from the Catylitic Converter back to the mufflers.

another noob question here: what exactly is a hollow cat? just clearing it out? If that's the case why not just weld a straight pipe?

Well it's just as it sounds. You take your catylitic converter off and there is this weird, highly toxic, honeycomb stuff in it. You take that out and your exhaust flows more freely. But it sounds weird and it isn't that expensive to just have an exhaust shop weld a straight pipe on. There are also 2 other "precats" on your 86'. Getting a header will replace these, and your very constricting stock manifold. If you decide to get a header though, get the header then the straight pipe, because the stock cat length is too short to fit a header without modification.

True. He could get the straight pipe on but, since I noticed that he's in California I figured just in case for inspection he could have the cat there just to show for it.

Yeah but it is only four bolts to swap it back in, just remember to keep your stock cat. If you are gonna straight pipe it, don't hollow out your cat because you will have to buy another to get it registered.
