Come back in a few days when you've finished those.

Really, with a NA, adding power is simple. The better the engine can breathe, the more power it will make.

You also will probably want to replace the transmission & differential fluid - going with some of the nicer synthetics show a noticeable gain in wheel power due to reduced drivetrain losses. Not technically adding power to the engine, but functionally the same.

Yes, do a tune up before trying to make more power. Change all fluids, plugs, wires, check for leaks and such.

Don't focus on what will make more power first. Focus on what will make your car run better! I have a '89 GXL (very similar) and here's what I've done.
New intake
new 2.5" straight exhaust (single)
Accel 8mm wires
Royal purple synthetic motor and gear oil
Koyo aluminum radiator
(Also converted an auto to TII drivetrain but you don't have to worry about that)

It looks fine single. Makes more sense. I figure single is more flow seeing as how it has lees bends in the exhasut that restrict flow.

I make shorty headers...real cheap. Then progressing to the rest of the exhaust is next step. Then intake, and lightening.
