MOP will NOT come off.

S5 OMP in a S4 block.

Taken out the 2 10mm bolts that hold the MOP on, as well as all 4 banjo bolts, and the wiring harness.

I pulled on that ****** so hard my feet were off the ground, and I dented my fender! (snapped back though ) And I'm no lightweight at 240!

I cant get it seperated enough to even put a flathead in there to pry it.

I've drowned the SOB in brake cleaner to get the gunk off (was leaking, and this is an old one anyways, got a new one on the way). Then soaked it in WD 40 and let it penetrate. Nothing. Barely moves .5mm at the top.

WTF??

Since the new MOP was lost in the mail (THANKS UPS!!! )- Im thinking about taking this MOP out, fixing the position sensor (reason for ganking it in the first place, as well as the leak) and ripping out the gears and running pre-mix... but I cant get it off. Hah. Been trying for over 30 mins now.

The bolts weren't that tightly torqued down either... not loose, but not too tight.

Why do you have a S5 MOP in a S4 block? Could you tap the mop with a hammer? I took mine off to run premix (S4). and I had no problems. I can't really imagine why it would be on so tight...

I have a S5 car/ECU running a s4 block. Came that way when I bought the car. Works out good since i'm going to be boostin' pretty soon, and the lower compression engine would be a tad safer vs the higher comp. S5 engine.

I REALLY don't like to use hammers, unless ABSOLUTELY nescessary or I'm busting a tie rod off

Well...

Hmm

I guess I should just bow my head in shame.

WHAT THE GOD DAMN HELL! lmfao, wow... just... wow.

Hey Kevin... since the MOP isn't covered at all basicly in the "lubrication system" part of the FSM, and I cant find it really in detail at all anywhere else, do you know of a good piece of reading that goes a LITTLE more indepth about it? The postion sensor in detail in specific.

Since I can't feel **** down there, plus its 12:15am.. where is the 3rd bolt? Dont tell me its right next to the heatshield. I thought that was a nut, but wasnt sure.

And wouldn't it still only be held on by 2 bolts, since its a s4 block? Might be a s5 front cover though, if they're "swappable", but I doubt it.

NO.... the exaust manifold heat shield... the MOP is like right next to it basicly. I thought I felt something "protruding" out of the MOP (COVERED in gunk/oil/sand mixture) inbetween the mop and the heatshield (for the ex manifold).

Hmm.. I know on S4's at least. the exhaust manifold heatshield is feet away from the MOP.. Are you sure you're taking off the right piece? Almost sounds like the EGR..

The MOP is basically made in an L shape at the base. IF you were looking at it from the side, where the black round part is as the center, there would be a bolt at 7 oclock, a bolt at 11, and a bolt at 1. The bolt at 7 sticks out quite a bit, the other 2 are all the way up in there.

the EGR is on top of the block isn't it... under the 'exten' manifold. Mine is blocked off anyways.

I dunno, I've actually already forgot where it was, I've never touched the MOP before today. I'm about half way asleep, and still coming over the fact that I'm an idiot for not checking for more bolts. Had no idea it was 3

There is no heatshield on the MOP.. I'm talking about the heat shield covering the stock exaust manifold.

Must be an N/A than, I never seen a heatshield remotely close to my MOP, even if there was one off the manifold, the MOP is nearly in the center/front part of the block..

i did 2 of them from the top after i took off the air pump and crawled under the car and used a 1/4 in racthet with a extension for the last hidden bolt . i think thats the one your missing. take a nice bright flash light under the car with you and look ,, youll see it .. the first time only took me about 1.5 hours on and off, now i can do it in about 30 minutes
