Lightbulb Mod Recommendations for engine rebuild

It's starting to look like I will have to rebuild my engine. So I was wondering what types of modifications I could do to get a little more horse power as part of the rebuild. I am looking at primarily new components since I will have a mechanic do the work and may not be able to afford the labor associated with porting and stuff.

Heres the important part, wife said it was ok to jazz it up a little so I just can't let this opportunity pass!!

So if you have some ideas, let's hear em!! The car is a 91 vert with the stock 13B engine, stock fuel and electrical system.

Streetport. That's what most people do when they get a rebuild.

How much of a gain do you get on a street port? Based on the link provided they say that there isn't much gain and it appears that there is a lot of risk associated with the 6 port engines.

True, there isn't much of a gain, but you still get about 10-15%. Not bad since the engine is apart anyways.

What people sometimes do is swap their NA housings with TII ones, they are better because they don't have the restrictive port sleeves.

-streetport
-oil baffle
-thermal pellet
-80-85psi oil pressure regulator
-deep grove rotor bearings
-FD rotor housings
-FD side seals/springs
-2mm 2-pc apex seals
-hardend front and rear stationary gears

Thats all I can think of........is there more? I think that should do it internatlly.

An NA with a streetport will run perfectly fine off the stock fuel system. Remember that NA engines are mapped RICH virtually everywhere until about 6krpm. There isnt much you can do to an NA engine short of spraying or FI'ing it to surpass the stock fuel system's abilities.

my TII with a streetport feels A LOT better before boost comes on, than it did before. SO, i would definitely say it worth it. it will give you the basic foundation to build something bigger and better in the future.

Please tell me that your mechanic has rotary engine experience.

It all depends on your budget which is ??? What new components do you need???

Visit all the rotary engine rebuilders/tuners(pineappleracing/atkinsrotary/rotorsportsracing/rxforyour7/mazdarx7engines/mazdarotaryengines/mazdadragracing/kdrotary/revolutionrotary) online. Do a search. Stick with reliabilty adding mods. Then, add the power mods as budget allows. Purchase the racingbeat/mazdatrix/hayes catalogs and read what they do for their rebuilds.

improved oil/coolant seals (like viton/silicon/teflon...)
pineappleracing port sleeves
T2 center housing(is that possible--thought that it flows better than NA)
T2 oil pump or upgraded oil pump
swaintech coated rotors/gears
ported intake
mildly street ported engine shouldn't be a problem
If there is any housing lapping/blanchard grinding, you should recoat them.

Just add a 'www.' and a '.com' to any of the above names, read the websites, and plan your rebuild accordingly.
I make no recommedations; Just giving you something to read and think about.

Some good information here. To answer a couple of the questions that came up. My mechanic has rotary experience. Budget around 2k so not much . Will more than likely buy something already built but not sure of that yet. I think that covers most of them.

My big problem now is figuring out what all that stuff mentioned above is! Guess its time to dig out the books
