Maybe because you are in 5th gear, try 4th. Although i think i had mine up to 120 in 5th once...

Yep, I know I could get mine to 120+ in 5th. I got mine up to about 145 on the speedo (I figure 130-135 real speed) before I got mine rebuilt - it had 215k on the engine and a wide open exhuast. Does the engine still run well? I would check to see if you have a clogged cat or something. I bet you could get a lot more speed if you replaced the exhaust.

Your hitting a wall at 100mph because your aux ports are not opening.

My 88 SE without pressure to open the ports was very sluggish and wouldn't pass 100mph.

BTW check out www.azrx7.com in case your not already on there.

Thats pretty much normal. The 5th gear is too tall to accelerate at those speeds.

any higher than 100 and you will definately need to use 4th gear or higher. the power really dies off after 8500 rpm.

I have seen very few N/A FC's pull anything past 115 in 5th gear (on flat land), I got mine up to about 135-ish in 4th and when i shifted into 5th it slowed down. Are you sure your not shifting too early out of 4th gear?

You obviously haven't owned many FC's

Both of my 88S4 NA's could hit 120 on the top of 4th and then struggle to go over 130mph.

Now my car is 13bt and it will hit 120 without thinking about it :P

So moral of the story.
Get your aux ports fixed like I said earlier and then get a TII

I've hit 130 in my 89 GXL N/A. It took me a while and I think I was in 4th, when I went to fifth, it lost power. Had to go back to fourth.

Today, driving on new freeway extension I hit 120 in 4th, pulling 7200 rpm's. Tons more hp since I cleared up frozen 6th port. Get 5th & 6th working and watch the difference. BTW, 350 freeway miles in two days, average 75 mph in 5th, yes 5th gear, and got 22 mpg. 5th gear gas saver, its only use.

PEACE THE DOG

lol, why in the world were you going 100mph in a minivan? Late picking up the kids? Was there a sale at Wal Mart getting ready to end?

Why not? Braggin rights I guess. Even though a 100 mph in a minivan is a bit ridicilous.
