Massive scrap on front iron should I just engine swap?
Massive scrap on front iron should I just engine swap?
hey guys I need some help! I have been rebuilding this engine for a year now and last July (2023) I fired it up for a compression test. When all of a sudden a loud bang happened. Killed the engine and we had good compression.
So a few weeks later I put new oil and coolant in it. When I checked the oil I noticed coolant and oil were mixed. So now I have taken it apart again and this massive scrap is on the front iron. I’m not sure if it was due to a side seal or “E” or counter weights or even I may have mixed up the roters.
Any advice would be amazing. In the mean time I may put another engine in it so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
I vote send it to a shop. Respectfully, if you do not know the issue it may happen again. It would cost you a lot more to do an entire engine, tranny and all the stuff you forget….
If that’s the only damage I would let some else take a stab at it.

That is fair. Just shop fees haha. There aren’t many shops here in Alberta Canada that fixed rotary engines. I believe the closet is 4 hours away. (I could be wrong)
