Manual vs Powered Windows
Manual vs Powered Windows
Which do you prefer? I know most people will say powered b/c it is a lot easier to roll up and down your windows, especially pass. But are there any people out there who like manual windows? Maybe for the weight they take off?
Also can you put powered windows in a car that came with manual? Say a 1990 GTU, are all the components needed in the door or will I have to do some wiring?

You can make them yourself if you want. Thats what I did, and it looks stock. And I bought the levers from the stealership.

I preferred power.. Easier to roll down and up because i usually drive alone and want to be able to roll it up and down on the highway without having to reach over..
I like both but I will go with manual windows. The reason behind it is that power windows are conveniant until they break, then they are a pain. I had the motor start to go out on my ae86 on the passenger side so I couldnt even roll it down all the way and once it was down I would have to reach over to roll it up. the window seal started to go bad on the driver side so the window fell off the rail and I almost sliced my hand open trying to fix it.
I prefer manual for the mechanical simplicity.
BTW if anyone wants to trade their manual windows for my power lmk.

I prefer the manuals b/c I'd say it's quicker and easier. Takes just a second to crank. The passenger side is a little bit of a pain, so maybe I'll put in power on that side eventually.
Well, I don't know about you guys, but I'm definitely poor... I had manual windows in my 323, now power in the '7. I like power for the convenience, it's harder to reach across the '7 than the 323 while driving.
The power windows on our cars are no less reliable than on any other. They're not even hard to fix - I had mine re-greased and re-aligned for a little over $100. They work like new: go up\down quickly (and at the same speed) and they don't allow in any airflow on the highway.
Rolling up your own windows is a PITA (and kinda ghetto :P ).
All rx7's came pre-wired for power windows. I would advise some of you to upgrade now before those parts are too hard to find.
That is all

There's some sort of welcomed nostalgia about manual windows, but I'm leaning towards power, simply because...well....dunno.... I want to say easier, but that doesn't really make since, does it?... I guess I'm just partial to them. That's the only way I can explain it.
...So yeah, power for me!

And living in Santa Rosa gives you a lot of room to talk
I'm interested, how much do you want for them?

power is better... when it works...
i converted my power GXL windows to mauals simply because i had lots of problems with the driver side stopping halfway up no matter how i adjusted it and when youd pull it up by hand it wouldnt close all the way. passenger side worked fine, but i wanted it to be even.
