Manifold Water "O" Rings installion questions
So this is the first time I have ever had the LIM off which is where my coolant leak was. One of Manifold Water "O" Rings was destroyed.
I got 2 new ones and a gasket from Mazda Trix.
My question is whats the best way too install them? I was going too put the O rings into the holes on the block and hold them there with a little bit of silicon but they don't really seem too fit (as in there slightly too big)? So now i've pasted the gasket on the LIM with a touch of silcone and put the Manifold Water "O" Rings on the LIM with a dab of silcone.
I guess im really worried about alignment. Any ideas or suggestions on the best way too perform this? The manuel doesn't give much insight..
Thanks inadvance guys

Are you sure you got the correct o-rings? The o-rings should fit fine in the grooves on the block. The LIM just has smooth surfaces (pics here: http://www.aaroncake.net/rx-7/4PortLIMTo6Port.htm), so you'll have almost nothing to show you where they should end up. Plus, if you can't put the o-rings in the groove with your fingers, they're going to get pinched when you tighten the LIM down. Clean out the grooves and cram the o-rings in place. The fit should be tight enough that you don't need an RTV to hold them in.
Installing the LIM o-rings is actually similar to installing coolant seals in an engine rebuild. You MUST thoroughly clean the grooves. Use a pick to clean the groove out or the o-rings will inevitably get pinched.
Put a little bit of Crisco in the grooves to hold the o-rings in place.

this is what you want, not the the liquidy stuff. clean off the excess after you insert the o-ring into the groove.

Alright I'll go back and take a look. I got the part from mazda trix and its the only rings they had so im assuming there the right ones...
