Exclamation manifold trouble...

Will someone HELP ME!

..Ok so today i found out that i have a cracked manifold... now if i'm going to be forced to change it i want to make sure that i go with the best possible option.... now i know that the 89-91 rx-7s put out more horsepower, because of a different turbo manifold and different turbo components.... now my Question is: Will i be able to use the 89-91 manifold on my 87 motor? Or is there a better manifold to use with the stock turbo?

...if anyone could help me out i will be very thankful...

You'll need the manifold that goes with your turbo. The s5 manifold is divided where the s4 is not. Also, it looks like the bolt patterns are different. I don't believe there are any aftermarket manifolds for the stock turbo.

I have seen both the s4 and s5 manifolds and they all look the same. You can try an aftermarket manifold like the HKS but they too can succomb to heat fractures. There is a guy on the forum that makes a mean looking manifold that I swear I will buy someday. They run around 800.00? I am not 100% sure.

Keep in mind if you go with an Aftermarket manifold, there are tons of other things that you must do to the car. Change the turbo, wastegate, fuel....

With all this in mind, it would be better to buy a direct replacement. You can usually score a good used one for less or spend the 500.00 or so for a new oem which should last for many years to come.

Based on HKS's website they do make rx7 manifold. But it's a t04 flange style. The stock turbo's don't have these.

Completely and Totally incorrect.. S5 motors have better porting/induction and higher compression. Thats where the HP is made. The turbo plays adds virtually nothing to the equation.

Do your homework.

I assure you, the S4 and S5 turbo manifolds are completely different. If you doubt me, try to bolt an S4 turbo to an S5 manifold.

Your right about that. I should have elaborated in saying there is no performance or reliablility difference between the two of them. One isn't better than the other.

Well no, the turbos are different. The S5 turbo is a more efficient turbo due to a split design. It doesn't have the twinscroll like the S4.

800$ for a great manifold that fits an NA and clears the frame and intakes.
