I was driving the other day and all is well. My normally noisy RX7 (custom exhaust no mufflers straight from cat back) gets louder all of a sudden. Sounds like a turbo spool going PSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSH and it only does it at WOT if your only casually on the gas it doesnt do it. I checked for vacuum leaks thinking maybe thats it nothing. Next i figured exhaust leak up front. Im guessing its the Manifold is cracked but im not sure. Anybody with any ideas on what to check?

 

gets louder means that something broke. maybe your cats guts flew out or you blew a hole before that.

 

check your TID(turbo inlect duct) mine used to whistle at high boost for the longest and i couldnt figure out why. it had a small crack didnt see it until it got bigger and affected idle.

 

I think he has an NA, not Turbo. So no TID

 

yup N/A and as i suspected exhaust manifold.......luckily not cracked but blown gasket

yeah itd take quite a bit to crack the stock collector, thats a heavy piece

 

damn thing blew again! my cats must be clogged to all hell or something
