Angry Stat gear out,, please help

I have a 91 rx-7 and I took it to a friend to have the oil pump replace since I was reading low pressure, so the thing is he accidentally pull the front stationary gear (wich i think was pretty stupid, u dont accidentally take 8 12mm bolts and a plate and pull that off in an accident, anyways) and now I tried to put it back in place and it seems like the front rotor is stuck inside the housing , I dont wanna force it to turn Im afraid that could damage the housing, what can I do to avoid pulling off the engine , also is there a mark for the rotor and the stationary gear? I think there is a particular way to place the rotor,. any help would be appreciated., thanks

Days Later...
ok. I got the gear back in place, but here is whats happening, the rotor turns then it locks itself inside the housing, thats means it moved around when the stat gear was off, how can i place it back where it should be so that it can freely spin?? please help..

if the rotor has been free to move inside the housing out of phase you've probably dropped seals out of the rotor apexes. Very likely to be in need of a rebuild.

NO, there's no way apex seals can "drop out of the rotor" while installed.

I dont know of any way to reorient the rotor with relation to the gear once it's been turned without the gear in place. Who was the idiot that did that? The only thing I can tell you is to try and turn the shaft AND the rotor to get it out of it's bind and in time with the gear. IT should only be a tooth off one way or another.

That's what I was thinking too...must be only 1 tooth off. I can't see it being any more than that.

Is that true? with no stationary gear to index the rotor it cannot turn enough to clear the rotor housing far enough for any of the apex seal pieces to come out? Hm, I'll have to try that when I get home. I assumed you could get it to turn enough for one of the pieces to come out with no stat gear.

No, it cannot. Because the tips of the rotor would touch the rotorhousing, not move away from it. The gear keeps the rotor "in time" so to speak so it cannot touch the rotorhousing.
