loud thump?

loud thump?

hey guys well just recently i was driving my car and noticed a thump noise either when i gave it gas or when i shifted and then gave it gas its coming from the back after time its gotten worse and the thump noise sounds even stronger.... neideas friend of mine said its the rear diff bushing???? if so how hard is it to replace and where can i located one???

could be driveshaft too, unbolt it and check the u-joints

most likely it is your differential mount, always breaking, you can short term fix it by welding it or you can by a new mount and replace it. Get under your car and push up on the Diff where the driveshaft connects to it it should pop up with a some force.

get under the car (while on jack stands) and take a look at your driveshaft, and all you differential mounts, ro oyu could have snapped one of the diff mounts off the subframe, i've seen it.

Lift the rear of the car up and start it and get a friend to throw her in third and stick her at 2500rpm. Then reach under and grab the drive-shaft. If it stops you need a new one.

(^check your UV joints)

thump when accellearting and shifting = broken diff mount

u joints tend to vibrate at certain speeds............but MAY thunp (i've never heard it though)

I'm confussed, what exactly are you telling him to do? It sounds kind of dangerous to me so i must be not understanding you correctly.

It's only really dangerous if you have a real manly grip. I'm a little wussy boy so I usually only suffer minor lacerations and abrasions.
