Little help needed here

Alright, so I took of the door panels and such and started rewiring the speakers in my car. I found some plugs that weren't plugged into anything and I'm wondering what they go to. Here's the pictures.

If you know what these are for, please tell me cause I have no clue.

with the exception of the top one, the plugs/wires shown are for optional equippment, like powerd/amp rear speakers, factory alarm, factory door lights, etc.

Alright, I figured those things on the rear were probably amps or something because they had speaker wire coming out of them. I'm gonna be pulling those amps out then so that I got more room for my new speakers. Also, I've got the door lights, but no power locks. I'm guessing that big plug must be for the power locks and the small plug is for the alarm? Anyone else know exactly what each of these plugs are for?

wouldn't worry about those 2 plugs, they were for optional equipment that your car doesn't have. one i think is for optional door speakers and i believe the other is for the door locks(arming switch?).

So does that mean that the passenger's side has a power lock?

Alright, optional door speakers I don't need, and I'm sure the other wire is probably for something with the alarm. I would like to have that alarm, but then again, I could just get a nice Viper alarm for the car. So here's my question now. Should I attempt to take out those plugs and wires that aren't being used, or should I leave them alone? I have a feeling that removing all the wiring that is attached to those may be rather difficult and unwrapping the stock wires may not be the best idea.

My passanger side door lock goes up and down according to the drivers side. So if I open it with a key from the outside on the driverside the passanger side goes up as well. Everything looks stock for the setup so I assume there were some with optional passanger power door lock. Maybe not driver side, but passanger I beleive had one.

I wouldn't bother removing those extra wires you are not using. You never know when you may want them in the future or what kind of gemlins they could cause removing them. If they are not causing you any problems don't touch!!!

- might... depends on options. You should be able to look and see yourself. Either way it is a "follow me" system, that would require a door lock motor to be in the drivers door or the switch hooked up for a passengers door power lock to work.

why remove them??? are you haveing some misguided desire to lighten .5 lbs from each door in wiring???

Icemark is right, as always. you do NOT want to start messing with your wiring harness unless you can avoid it. I've been working on mine for about 3 weeks now... it's a mess (should be finished today, though!)

Alright, I won't mess with those plugs and wires then. I have a feeling messing with the wiring harness may lead to problems. Is there any way I can put those power locks in? I saw that one the turbo RX-7 I looked at had those locks. When you would lock or unlock the driver's door, the passenger side door did the same. I don't think I've got them, because there's no sort of wiring running to my locks at all.

Oh yea, forgot to add. Do you guys think I could take those things out of the rear then? Those boards aren't hooked up to jack, and never will be, and it's not gonna hurt anything to remove them right?

Probably easier to just add aftermarket power door locks, and a keyless entry or keyless security system.

It is safe to remove the boards, although you will get a much better sound out of your speakers if you put them back in the black buckets.

I don't understand why it would sound better with those boards in there? Wouldn't they cause the sound to come out un-even? Also, the rear speakers in my car are not used for lows, they're gonna be used for highs. But I'm starting to think about sound deadening material too. Think putting any in those buckets will help out?

The two socket plug with LR and LW wires is .....door courtesy light.

The other plugs are for the power mirrors and the power mirrors, although you did not give us a good enough picture of the plugs and WIRE COLORS.

The wiring to the speakers should be string tied to the harness under the rug. Someone might want to make use of them in the future.

my bad, I didn't mean it like it sounded I just meant make sure you put the speakers in the buckets.. the boards wont' affect sound quality one way or the other.

Sorry again

Hey, it's no problem man. Don't worry about it.

Alright, now about those plugs. I know what the ones I don't have hooked up are. I know which plug is for the door lights, and I know which is for the power windows. I think I've found the original speaker wire, seeing as how I've got it hooked up to the rear speakers now. I'll get some better pictures of the plugs once I take the door panels off again to put in my new speakers.
