Limp Mode

What EXACTALLY is limp mode?

I ask because I know I have OMP codes, and my car has ****-poor throttle responce. I'm wondering if it's in limp mode now. If so, I'm scared to take it OUT of limp mode!

On an S5, I was under the impression that OMP malfunction always put it into "limp home mode". Makes sense, to save an engine that's not getting proper combustion chamber lubrication.

My OMP went bad awhile ago and my car went into limp mode. basically, it just doesnt let you go into boost. at all. you give it enough gas to get almost get to boost and it just boggs WAY down. almost feels like fuel cut. But im pretty sure its not..its the opposite in fact. all 4 injectors are going full 100% open. which floods the engine and causes it to bog.

The wierd thing for me is that it only does it sometimes...it will usually do it when i stop at a stoplight for awhile. Then when i try to ge going again.. it will have kicked in.

Im not sure what you mean by poor throttle repsonse... but make sure you have the OMP connected right. Is your car giving you the Check engine light? if so. check the codes its giving you and do what it says in the FSM for that code.

I just had to replace an OMP. Beforehand the car ran rough and would not rev past 3000 rpms...like a fuel cut, and it showed codes 20 and 27. I changed the OMP and now it runs great. I hope this helps...

Hah, I hate s5 OMP's. Cursed god damn things! *ANYWAY* Basically, it feels like you're running into a wall and the car just bogs right to hell, if you go EXTREMELY easy on the accelerator you can get it going, but it starts to get pissed. My TII will make it to about 4500rpm before it starts bucking too bad to go any further (going easy on the throttle) otherwise it kicks my *** at about 3000

limp mode is when you been at sir gregorys too long drinkin beers and shots...and your girl wants.....well never mind that

the only time i ever noticed a limp mode in my rotories, was when my s4 blew and only 1 of the 2 rotors was working...i limped down fort st from ( i think it was campbell) till almost battlefield. basically it felt like the same deal...i could give it gas but it would slowly accelerate... if it was a 2 degree upslope..i thought id have to kick out the floor pan and start to flinstone it...maybe i should have replaced the omp instead of the whole f-n engine, but its always better to err on the safe side...right.

my 2 pennies worth

On a series 4 you don't have a limp mode, so that wouldn't have helped much, if that's what you had meant.
