which is the leaky injector.....?

ok, I seem to have a leaky injector.. when looking at the plugs from the drivers side of the car its the top right plug that has gas all over it.. I have been reading up on the injectors to see about removing them getting them pro cleaned.. doesnt seem to be any diffrent that than my old Z that i had to swap injectors on.. from what i can see there is only 2 injectors... so which one would be the leaky one... gas is on the top right plug looking at them from the drivers side..

might not be a leaky injector, but more of a grommet problem. the rubber grommets on the injectors will get hard and brittle over the years, and wont seal right. i recently replaced mine on all four injectors, and now they fit snug. get a new set from mazdatrix (www.mazdatrix.com)...its only about 9 bucks for the whole set, so you might as well replace them all. btw, we have 4 injectors.

and if you're looking at the plugs and theres gas all over the plugs, perhaps they're not tightened enough. if theres gas on my spark plugs i wouldnt even think about starting the car.

Ok, maybe i'm don't understand but, how dose the ruber grommets play a part in gas getting on the plug from the inside ? If the gromments go bad, you should have a leak on the outside of the motor. The top groumments do most of the work in sealing the gas . Think of it like this. Fuel in the rail. Injectors in the rail with the top groumments. Right ? Ok. Now if the rail, groummets & injectors were in your hand with 43psi of gas and the groumment leaked, the gas would have to go down the outside of the injector. Then past the lower groummets and inside the motor. You would see the gas all over the outside of the motor as well. This sounds pretty fare out there. Injectors do laek and this MAY be your prob. BUt, there are many things that could make your car flood. The gas has to be sealed from the top of the injector (top groummet) and the injector it;s self (when not on) holds the gas for coming out of well.......... it's self. The gas that's on that plug , is in the rear rotar housing and you have 2 injectors in both housings.1 pri. & 1 sec. But, what the hell do i know!

Sorry, I mean when i take the plugs out there is gas on the plug.. aswell i stuck my finger in the chamber and there is a fair amount of gas in there.. I tried with the other plugs aswell and its not wet..

ok i figured there was 4 injectors but only 2 of them where exposed enough that i could see them without takeing apart my injection system..

as far as the rubber goes HIMNI is right, that shoudl cause a leak on the out side of the injectors.. thats actualy the problem i had with my Z that caused me to have to replace them.. but this is an internal leak.. I dont know the inner workings of an injector but i take it there is some kind of one way valve that is stuck open so there is gas leaking out untill there is no more fuel pressure..

the #1Pri and #1 sec, are they the first injectors closest to the fire wall on each fuel rail?

sorry for my misunderstanding...i thought you meant on the outside of the plug. it does sound like you have a flooding problem. theres no real way to tell which injector it is, best bet is to send them all out for cleaning. its better to do them all at once anyway.

How many miles are on your car? I've seen a few injector pintle(the lil valve in the injector) wear out over time. It doesnt happen often, but it happen. go get them cleaned and while you're at it check the resistance of each injector, they may be shorted and not closing properly.

What kinda shop will do this? can any old mechanic shop clean them? Or would it be a specialty shop?

you probably wont find a local shop to clean them right, most people send them out to RC Engineering (www.rceng.com) and they clean them for about 25 bucks each.
