lack of power

It is a 87 rx7 basically stock cone filter, gutted cat, block-off on acv and cold start injection and the 5 and 6th port are always closed. I runs like crap one time by day, hour, and also by the minute. Then it will run good by the day, hour, min. I can not understand it.

How long should it take to get it up to 85 and should it go pass it without taking forever? Can NA with lsd do burnout(power braking)?

Sometime it act like it has a rev-limiter at about 3500-4000. it will just bounce then. and then other time it does not. I have tested and checked everything(I think)......I have been trying to figure this out for 6 month with no luck.

the car only has 104000 miles on it. Compression is 110 on three rotors faces on both rotors

5and 6th ports should be open after a certain rpm, otherwise high rpm power will be low. check your wiring if the power seems to be somethign electrical related.

with gutted cats there is not enough backpressure to open them. I check wiring and sensor. Not codes come out of the computer. I must be over looking something

if the 6 ports never open, the car will be much slower and it coudl take a while to get to 85 if you are goign thru the gears by winding them out. like i said not much top end power without havign the 6 ports open. so either make them open some how, or if there is no way to actuate them , then u might want to remove them all together since wiring them open doenst do much good other then loosing low end. if you ned ot know more about 6 port actuation do a serach, i dont feel like explaining the whole deal.

the gas milage you are gettign sounds to be about right

I understand the 5&6th port problem......how much top can you lose have them closed?
BUt I cannot understand why minute it will pull hard thought all the gears and next it bounces at 3500-4000. or if I am going up a hill(small hill). I have to floor and sometime even down shift.

Sometime I have a postive feel of the gas padel......another I can floor it and it is sluggest

Have you checked spark to your leading plugs?

Even with gutted cats and stock exhaust, the 5th and 6th ports should open. Check the actuators, can you push them in easily and do they return?

You loose ALOT of power if the 5th and 6th ports don't open. My actuators were stuck, so I removed them and my N/A became a new car... Although I had a lot less torque down low, the top end difference MORE than made up for it.

I don't know exactly what your problem is, but start by removing the 5th and 6th ports and see if that fixes your problem.

hrmm, sounds like a grounding problem to me.... check them grounds yo :P
actually i re-read it.. sounds exactly like a grounding problem... loose/weak grounds will do this to rx-7's that's why must of us run new grounds .. everyone knows the shitty electrical problems FC's came with from factory :/

also auxillary ports not functioning properly on a stock n/a will lose roughly 25hp ... that's a lot :/

i'd check grounds first.. i'd wouldnt be surprised if this were the problem, but if not .. check you're secondary injectors, if those aren't working right you'll feel it.
if you wanna know how to check them, pull off the rail, and ziptie them onto it, jumper the fuel pump, and watch them spray (INTO SOMETHING SAFE!!) if they arent spraying, that's your problem, or in your case they would probably spit and sputter... if the injectors are the problem, send them off and get them rebuilt.
