Just Got done and..

I JUST got done doing a rebuild and got everything going. When i did get it started it would not hold its own ldle and we had to keep it at about 2200-2500 it keep it runing DUreing this time it sound fine to me all tho its been years from the last time i have had a RX running next to me. We ended up haveing to shut it down due to a over heat in the Y pipe yes i said the Y pipe was glowing red and we cut it off asap. Now i have worked on alot of cars in my life and seen a ton of Cat's glowing in my life but fo rthe mid pip cat's to be all gtg and the Y pipe glowing its a 1st. If anyone has any ideas on this plz let me know with a PM and or here thanks a ton guys and like i said i hope to see you all in the 16th with my RX running!.

It's running too rich. Or your timing is way retarded.

yea. running super lean = very hot gasses. running really rich = gas burning in the exhaust
either one will give you idle problems and possibly glowing pipes.

it could also be the main cat failed and all the catalyst material has blocked up in the mufflers.

I say go jack it up, cut the exhaust off and see how she runs. then find a used aftermarket exhaust for cheap on the boards.

It's really common to stab the CAS incorrectly. That's the first thing to check.
