Juno - My FC Build Thread

So its pretty slow at work, so here goes my build.... Starting in Sept. '07 when I first bought my car. Completely stock GXL with the custom Cadillac Pearl paint

So first thing I did, was slap on some cheapo wheels and started AutoXing.

... to where I quickly realized how badly I needed coilovers!

So I bought the TEIN Flex setup. To where I immediately noticed a huge difference. My times were also showing a drastic improvement!

Got some small extras (new wheel, pedals, shift ****, etc) Ya kno, ur usual cockpit crap.

This all lasted a while (about 2-3 months) before the typical rotary crap happened, blown coolant seal! And poof, there goes my first engine!

Very sad day!

So I send my car off to Denver to do a rebuild/streetport. Like any new engine, I was expecting alot more than I got, I was immediately dissapointed with the streetport. Still no power, but it worked. I could still practice drifting with the setup. The used S4 GXL LSD I just threw on definitely helped too. Throughout the next year and a half, I used my FC as my DD. Going to Mtn. Passes and big parking lots on the weekends. Just having fun, bought some small add ons during that time.

One of my favorites, my TII carbon front lip

Lol, my Nismo shift ****.

Cusco CF rear strut bar

Having fun in the snow

Down at PMI

My first and only battle scar.... ya, this is my gas tank cover lol (tagged a curb around the GOG)

Ya! Mazdaspeed, haha

Some rally driving up and down Pike's Peak... So much fun BTW!!!

Got too many exhaust tickets in one month so I slapped on this Sti muffler.

Vert wheels for the rear....

All gun metal.... looked like **** lol

Final product

So anyways, I was heavily considering doing an LS swap, cuz I was getting so sick of rotary issues, and just wanted something else, something with power lol. Until my buddy Ian decidied he was parting out his FC. And at that point decided I would love his engine in my car, so he said he'd do the build for me. So directly after my last event.... pic

I dropped the car off at Ian's. And so the swap started...
And before I knew it, the engine was in

Here's where it sits right now.... just waiting on a damn S5 TII ECU.... and waiting I am

So while waiting, I just get so antsy to have my frickin car back that I'm just searching for dream parts I'd love to own... and yesterday I found these for sale

Work Equips - 17x8 +22, 17x9 +22

So I couldn't resist... and bought the **** out of these! So hopefully I'll be done and ready for the next event, Aug 8th... but we'll see. I need to at least practice a little with the TII before an event lol. But I will definitely make the season finale Sept 11th.

So yeah, thats about it for now. Any new updates I'll post in here. Thanks for reading

Sucks you kept getting tickets for your exhaust. Here in TX, we do have sound ordinances in place for vehicles, but it is rarely enforced.

The Marine aviation ordinance sticker in my back window seems to keep the cops away.

Good choice!

Rims are sex. seriously.

Glad you did not end up ls swapping.
Hows that exhaust sound, does it make it sound all boxer-like? IIRC Colorado doesn't use road salt right???

Great Progress

Thanks! The exhaust sounded great, my old "turbo" muffler made it sound like a Honda, and when I threw on the Sti one, it gave me back that classic rotary sound. Very quiet, almost like stock... but when I'd get on it, it had alot deeper sound, so it didn't sound like a bunch of pissed off bees when I was high revving lol.

And yes, the wheels are sex, especially in person! Just got em about 30 minutes ago! They are in immaculate condition... minus where they actually say "equip." A little scuffed, but I'll survive, muah ha ha!

Here's a close up shot of the muffler. I always wanted to get another and go back to dual... I love how it looks. Cops will think its stock, but all us enthusiasts will notice the blingidge

Goin Rtek 1.5, sent out, so just waitin for the ecu to get back, and I'll be done with the build. Couple more events this fall, but by next summer, I should be making most drift events... hopefully. More pics for now.

Not at the moment. Once I lower the car more I'll probably throw on some small ones.

Very clean, I might have to use that Sti muffler idea.
And you've made my mind up about painting my intake manifolds.

Thanks guys!

I've always been single, well ever since the stock exhaust fell of the car while I was drivin on the highway (Scared the bajesus out of me, thought my engine blew). Sti sounded nice, and quiet. Now it's insanely loud, just waiting for my next exhaust ticket to happen.
