Should have stuck with bare aluminum on the housings and gone blue on the irons. White to me looks a bit tacky and out of place on an engine.

I like it also. I thought about painting my intakes white and doing a rising sun flag across them....but realized it would be hard to pull that off.

What I'd love to hear about Tiger Japanese is how their piston engine are? Seems to me that they are taking great liberties with rotaries being sold with no warranty. Piston engines are sold with some minimal warranty. Not so for rotaries and it seems like pure and simple Tiger is unloading any shitbag rotary that is in their container and then hiding behind a no warranty policy. I mean it would be like a car salesman knowing he could tell any lie he wanted about a used car and not be held responsible.

They're the same on piston engines. Do a search of the Canadian forum for Tiger Japanese, and you'll find a lot of threads, mostly expletive-filled, and most like this one where someone's gotten a crap motor from them that is obviously crap just to look at it, and they never make good on it, and it's not just rotaries. I was actually surprised to see badassxr50r seems to have gotten an engine that at least looks decent, and not like it's already been used as a boat anchor. Their rep is that bad. I haven't dealt with them, I'm 2500kms away, and their bad rep precedes them. The only way they can stay in business must be to keep finding new customers who don't hang out on forums - they come here or to other forums afterwards looking for help and find out no one's surprised they got rooked. Apparently, they buy most of their cars and engines out of Japanese junkyards (not auctions or used cars like reputable importers), or many are JDM's sold to the wealthy kids in Middle East oil states, where they're bagged and crashed and generally used like toilet paper and thrown away - then they go in and gather up the toilet paper to sell to Canadians and Americans.

Terrh, a multi-RX-7 owner from southern Ontario, bought a Nissan GT-R from them (off their lot, so he did get to look it over). The crankcase had apparently been filled with gear oil or some such to cover its bad rod knock - the engine failed catastrophically within hours. Too bad, so sad was their song. Their warranty is pretty much over as soon as they have your money. Never heard of anyone getting even partial money back on an engine or car from them.

yeah well i don't care what they have written on a piece of paper, the only saving grace they have is that they are located in Canada where i would guess a lot of their customers are in the US making it difficult for any lawsuits to take place.

i'm fairly certain even outside the US, if you were to take pictures/parts of the evidence of the inside of this motor to court that a judge would have a hard time just letting it slide under the "well you did agree that there was no warranty when you purchased it" clause, when people aren't paying for core motors(in this case not even a good core motor..) but priced for an actual running engine.

Sounds like they are just shitbags all around.

Them being in Canada is another of the reasons I passed on getting my engine from them. Among the advice I had gotten was about legal issues being exasperated by crossing international borders.

I agree that if someone got in front of a judge it'd be a no brainer regardless of what's on the sales invoice. But it's one more obstacle, even if it is just a mental obstacle.

Unfortunately Tiger is allowed to run their business cause the small things add up. Unfortunately it's cheaper, quicker, and easier to fix the problems that a junk engine cause than it is to get to the root of the problem.

I don't know a lot about class action suits, but my understanding is that it's a group of people who all get burned by the same person, instituition, or issue so they pool their experiences and resources to show that there is something larger going on than one mistake. If that's all correct it sounds like what would be appropriate.

i agree that a class action suit would be best in this case for them but the main problem seems to be the rotaries as they are one of the only engines they have no warranty on so the amount of affected people would be much smaller.

i still don't quite get why they offer no warranty at all though, they should be inspecting their engines more thoroughly which leads me to believe they really don't give 2 ***** about their reputation. even with a 30 day warranty many people simply couldn't make the deadline anyways and would be out return shipping costs anyways which would kill the likelihood of many returns at the $250 they charge for shipping just an engine(which also seems bloated but i have no experience shipping something that large across the border).

^Agreed us rotary people are a niche within a niche. Yet another small detail that adds up to Tiger getting away with what they do.

The thing about no warranties is what I found universally about rotaries. IIRC I checked with Tiger, an importer out of Georgia, Corksport and Atkins. All of them were as-is. To Corksport's credit, I waited a 4-6 weeks for their container to come in. Once it arrived they were straight up about telling me all their S5 13B were all parts engines. I think it was CS that gave me a heads up that Atkins had a container shipped also. For the record Atkins wasn't and to my knowledge still isn't in the business of importing, it was a fluke thing for them. They weren't advertising them, it was a word of mouth thing.

The shipping cost sounds right about what I paid to ship from west coast to midwest.
