I doubt you'll want to hear this right now, but tiger has a bad reputation for selling junk motors....
And i don't believe they honour warranties on rotary engines.

They are terrible to deal with and didn't honour warranties on two KL-series engines for a friend of mine that were installed AT A DEALERSHIP... they claimed improper installation and revoked any warranties both times the engines failed after less than 500 km of driving. I would recommend trying to get your refund NOW before the engine is shipped and then never deal with them again. Seriously.

I've been there a few times the only way I'd ever buy a motor from them is in person, they just literally throw their motors in piles unless its a B18c5 they seem to baby them,

I hope the motor they send you is rebuildable and not to many things are broken on it

then again Buying a motor From ANY importer is a gamble do you really think they'll send you the best motor they have or the worst

they might just not have any stock and are waiting for a container to come in with a 13b in it

I second trying to get your funds back from them. When I was looking for my JDM 13B I talked to one of them on the phone a couple times. I did not get a good feel from him at all. I read about their horrible reputation and when they told me that I was not buying the engine pictured in their F/S post...well I knew it was not someone to deal with.

Unfortunately any rotary from an importer is going to be no warranty. Apparently our engines are filled with gremlins and black magic waiting to launch at the slightest provocation.

I can't suggest enough to go with a reputable importer. Any engine is a crap shoot. I got mine from Atkins and it was rock solid. I daily drove it without a rebuild for over 3 years or so. I don't believe Atkins is in the business of importing, but it can't hurt to contact them. Another good one is Corksport. I waited 6 weeks or so for their next shipment to come in. What impressed me is they said they didn't get any 13B in that were worth anything but parts. Gotta respect them for NOT selling crap.

yaa i heard of all that its a shame really how difficult it is to buy a quality motor without taking a gamble i posted a thread awhiles ago and alot of people told me to just get it from them and rebuild it i just want it to be shipped out having to wait over a week for something i payed so much for just to process and its still not done is just stupid already know ima miss the event i was looking forward to since last year cause of this

A few years ago I drove to tiger to pick out an engine, every engine I tested was blown except the one I took home with me.

They told me you can't compression test rotaries.

What drifting in drifting said. Before I learned to search the forum I too bought an engine from Tiger. It was blown, front housing rusted thru, side seals rusted into the rotor. They lied about doing a compression check.

You should make sure you have a big reserve of cash for Karack to buy replacement parts.

I have a buddy who used to have a 240sx who bought a motor from tiger because he got it at a good price, but in the end he spent more than if he bought it froma higher priced more reputable company because it was missing a bunch of stuff.... I will never do business with tiger and nor will he....

he has a FC now.... so its all good

I got a Tii transmission from them a few years ago...still holding up. Although I would never get an engine from there.

I bought my car from them 3 years ago. I originally drove to their shop to check out a different FD advertised on their site. When i got there it was nothing like the picture shown and there was about 5 other FDs on their lot.

I literally started and checked out each and every one of them except for 2 that the guy said would not start at all. Each of the cars i checked were in very rough shape and the ones that ran were spewing black smoke even after being on for AT LEAST 10mins. The car i bought had a less than nice looking body but after putting the key in it and letting it run it was starting to win me over.

I ended up leaving there with an FD with 42xxx km on it and the engine ran solid for the 3 years that i've owned it. I'm stripping it down now and doing a rebuild so we'll see what i'm in for but as for the quality of the engine i definitely lucked out. I think the moral of the story is never buy something before you can get your hands on it and check it out because 1 out of 5 of their cars were complete write offs. But i'm a guy who likes a good deal and they definitely have deals there to be had, just gotta pick through the weeds to get to the flower!

Japan2LA like said above.

He KNOWS rotary engines, unlike those other guys.

For those bitching about no warranties...
They are ALL 20+ year old motors now. Don't expect crate motors straight from the factory.

I bought a 13bt from an importer and I said S4. They ended up shipping me a S5 and half the motor was scrap. 1 housing, plate and rotor were rusted beyond use.

I've learned my lesson.

i got my motor from Japan2la. it is a good motor. however i did wait for it about a month or so. he was out of stock and waiting for an shippment from japan. the motor still runs but has compression in the 80s. which maybe from the car sitting for a majority of the last 2 years.

I wasn't at all bitching about no warranties. Just giving a warning about the realities of rotaries. Its something you have to prepare for.

i used to think Japan2LA was reputable, until he held one of our locals money for 1 1/2 months and never shipped an engine as he said he would(he sent in the paypal claim at the end of the 45 day limit). i would say he has one of the better reputations but there is always going to be bad examples it seems from importers and communication or poor products.

anyways, the engine is en route and i'll try to get updates on the motor once it arrives so that people can know what to expect from one of the tiger japanese engines from the inside out, as it's going to be overhauled as soon as it arrives. they can claim whatever they want but the truth is in seeing exactly what condition the motor is in as it won't have ever been ran prior to teardown.

it's about the same size as the S475 that i built an RE engine for a local for.

cept the S475 tops out at about 1200 horsepower, well, supposedly anyways. i don't think anyone has gotten over about 1086WHP from a 2 rotor yet.
