probably. but if it was working fine before and all you did was change the cluster then that is really odd. there are troubleshooting procedures in the FSM for non op headlights. might want to give that a shot.

You cannot mix and match headlight switches between the series.

get an s5 head light switch or rewire it.

my jdm s5 is using an s4 usdm turnsig/brights switch though so not all switches need to be the same.

(Do you see this Aaron Cake? It's an expletive and not directed to anyone in particular.)
I've tried to do that, and it doesn't work.
If you want to listen to these other idiots, then go right ahead.
My experience tells me it doesn't work.

Thats not weird i had that exact same problem. I had a british switch and when i plugged it into the s5 jdm harness it did that same thing but somehing was shorting out and the wires got hot too. Then I used the s4 switch that was originally in the car.

someone stole my jdm gauge bezel and switches. (thats why i bought the british one thinking it would work and they did except for the blinker switch.)

I dont think i'm an idiot but all my harnesses in my car are jdm so maybe that makes a difference.

Aaron was my car tampered with or did an s4 switch really work for me?

Someone answer This for The OP.Thanks.

Something Tells me that you Can't use the s4 switch on an S5 Car,that is with the S5 Harness. It will Create Issues.
What about using the S4 Harness AND S4 switch on the S5 Car?
(sorry to the Original Poster,But this may clear some things up,and give some Additional info).Thanks.STYX.

I'm curious why it doesn't work? Is it something with the switch that re-pining the connector can't fix? A simple answer will suffice, without being called an idiot

I didn't mess with the switches other than just swapping them out.
I didn't want to waste time researching this other than swapping the cluster themselves.
If you want to look into this, you're welcome to do this, but it's a waste of time for me, since I had multiple switch clusters to work with at the time.

To clear up a couple mis-conceptions in this thread:

Ted and '90rps13are incorrect on swapping the headlight switch between series. There is no issue swapping the headlight switch, however the Turn signal switch is not swappable. The turn signal switches wire completely different between series as the headlight switch harness, is also different between series and not interchangeable.

Also, the Right hand drive and Left hand drive switches are wired different, so you couldn't swap that way without re-pinning the harnesses.

So J's fc what exactly are you trying to do and I will tell you what you have to do to get it too work.

And one more time so it is clear, Left hand drive (North American style) Headlight and wiper switches are interchangeable between S4 and S5 models with only minor internal differences that do not effect operation and pin out. However Turn signal (which also controls the High Beam) and Cruise control switches are not interchangeable by series and would require re-wiring if using a S5 turn signal switch with a S4 headlight switch harness (and visa versa).

BTW: I posted up a couple years back what pins needed to be changed to use a S5 turn signal switch in a S4 car/light switch harness.

Yes, throw it and the harness that it was connected to away. You can not re-use a burnt switch and harness unless you don't care about them burning up further.
