jack placement front diff mount
I need to replace the front differential mount and i am trying to figure out a proper place to place the jack stands. All i can find in the past hour is lift from the differential and place the stands under the rear subframe. That wont work because i will need to lower that piece.

corners where they normally go? can you be more specific? the only place ive seen anyone say to put the rear ones is on the rear subframe which would be impossible seeing as how the subframe needs to be unbolted and let hang...

I just did this.
What I did was use a Good piece of 1" thick wood 6 inches wide, about 18 inches long.Once you have the car Jacked up on the Subframe,Jack it up a bit Higher. Then put the Wood under the Floor Rails. The wood will allow the weight of the car to be distributed along the Floor rail's "frame" and not Crush it.Put an axle stand under the Wood and let the Car down on That particular side.Repeat on the Other side.
I then was able to Pop the Subframe Brackets off and use the Floor jack to Hold it temporarily.I then Used an Axle stand so it wouldn't fall on my head!..the Floor jack was then used to keep the Diff up while I Loosened the Two 17mm Nuts that attach it to the subframe,at the Front,They are a Real Bitch!..Note: If you can't Freely get at those.take the 3 17mm Stud and Nuts out Off the diff, then you have some room to Figure **** out later.
Cheers,I hope that helps ya.Dave/STYX.
OH.I also found that If you pop off one of the LINKS(?.long bar with a Tie rod sort of end on each side),then you have some Room to get at the Bolts that attach the Diff to the subframe.Impact the nuts off(17mm),then place the nut back on,a couple of turns.Since it has a Lip on the nut,you can use it to get the Link to Pop out of place, without having to Hammer the crap out of it!.
