Installing gauge surround.

Just trying to put on a gauge cluster surround, and can't get the clear plastic surround off. Any ideas how to get it off without breaking the plastic cover???

Searched but didn't find what i was looking for.

Do you have the gauge cluster out?

When I put mine in, I removed the entire gauge cluster, then took off the WHOLE shroud assembly (separated the gages from the stock surround & plastic cover as one piece) and put the new surround in from the back through one of the gauge holes without removing the backing until I got it in there and lined up.

Hard to explain w/o pics, but hope this helps.

On the S4 cluster the black part and clear parts of the gauge sheilds are attatched together with glue. To remove the sheild, you simply unscrew the 3 screws on the bottom of the gauge assembly, the two screws in the cardboard of the assembly and the two screws on the top of the gauge assembly.

This will allow you to remove the gauge sheild.

No it is a bonded glue. You would have to bust the joint

Sure a little acrylic glue, or if you are really good, just a hair of superglue (you don't want the white super glue fumes to stain the plastic).
